Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying what needs to be said)

The important CFP criteria is important until it isn't, The committee does what it wants and needs to every year to achieve what it wants.
Agreed, they could just do what they want, but they haven’t had to make a decision like the one we are potentially talking about. At that point, they might as well just go all the way with it and slide out Florida State

Do you believe Texas is better or do you believe Texas has the better resume?
Good question. I think Texas has the better resume for sure.

I think if they played, it would be a shootout to some degree, probably.

Zero percent offended by that. I definitely agree that they've done a better job of keeping the throttle open and finishing the bad teams they've played (who I would argue are worse than the teams Texas has played, other than UH).

I also think it would be close to a tossup game at a neutral field in Vegas' eyes and Oregon would probably be a slight favorite.

But I also would think you would think Texas, right now, is significantly better than FSU and maybe Washington. I know they're undefeated so maybe that is why eye test doesn't apply.

I just hate the you're too biased to see what I see argument. Just state your case, don't resort to that.
I'm just saying I agree with Vegas. It would be a bad ass game.

I don't think they'll do an interview after the announcements next Sunday and admit they left out the team that they believe is No.1

Agreed.

Why doesn't the eye test apply when it comes to FSU and Washington? Does it only apply when the teams have the same record?
My eyeball test would look totally different than my mixture of things test.

While i know im guilty too, lets just focus on winning on saturday then worry about whining and bitching later.

The have mostly battered the teams on their schedule.

Their best win is a 21-point win over the current No.13 on a neutral field. That's in the zip code of what Texas did in beating No.8 on the road by 10.
LSU has lost three games and didn’t look great on Saturday against an Aggy team without a head coach playing with their 3rd string qb. They didn’t batter Clemson or BC
Nonetheless you’re dodging the complete issue which is FSU currently sucks because Travis is hurt. They aren’t playing like the number 4 team and they have zero business in the playoff at this point. It’s a total waste of a playoff spot to put them in.

I guess I don't understand what you're saying here. I thought that you said you slotted Oregon ahead of Texas based on the eyeball test. I may have missed something.

Damn phone
@Ketch just said Oregon was playing better than Oregon....😆 Shirley he meant Texas....as well as me saying Shirley but meaning surely. We're just giddy Texas is in the conversation again. We just need to beat osu or all bets are off🤘🏻💯😊

But wouldnt that be easier to explain than leaving out Bama, who would have the same record, the SEC Championship, and H2H over them in the last week of the season? Bama is the part of it I’m caught up on tbh, and the results would have to trump what they believe at the point. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice Brewster’s Millions reference. Great childhood movie.

Surprised that you also would have Oregon over Texas. All the metrics favor Texas - strength of schedule, common opponent (Tech), Best win (Bama), etc.

e. Ohio State being in front of Texas in the two major polls is ridiculous, but thankfully those two polls are meaningless. That being said, the unwillingness of voters to send the Buckeyes to the back of the line after a loss only reinforces my opinion that if Georgia loses on Saturday, it might not drop below No. 4 for the committee.
Ketch, if Texas wins and Georgia loses, Texas would have both the conference champion advantage and the victory over a common opponent (Bama) that Georgia just lost to. I can't see the committee doing that, but if it does they have just lost any credibility they have left.

Would there be any precedent for such a move and what is the most egregious example of the committee ignoring their own criteria in the selection?

By the way, great write up. Thank you.

Oregon over Texas is complete bs. Here is the playoff criteria: conference championships (both), strength of schedule (Texas), head-to-head results (N/A), and comparison of results against common opponents (Texas). There is no playoff criteria that favors Oregon over Texas. You should be standing up to this and calling it out instead of pandering to it. Not to mention, we also have the best win.

Georgia and Bama are fighting for the same spot. It doesn’t matter who wins. If Bama wins, then there’s a slight chance that both Bama and Georgia get in a head of Texas so it’s ultimately better that Georgia win.

They've played one game since the injury and it was a 9-point win in a rivalry game in the Swamp. You're going punish them for that, but ignore that Texas had a couple of closer games against worse comp?

Ketch, say Texas wins and doesn’t get into the playoffs. Do we at least get a good matchup? Someone like Penn State? Not a Tulane!!!!

So Oregon and Bama should be in over Texas because of the eyeball test, and FSU sans QB1 because of resume.

In what world does that make sense?
