Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Sorry about ruining Santa for you...)

My list:

1.) Master of Puppets
2.) Fade to Black
3.) One
4.) For Whom the Bell Tolls
5.) Sanitarium
6.) Creeping Death
7.) Battery
8.) Nothing Else Matters
9.) Orion
10.) Fuel

You could interchange about 10 songs to fill in 6 thru 10. Harvester if Sorrow, Enter Sandman, etc.

So your saying that the "Special Assistant to the Head Coach" spot on the UT employment website is for Patterson?

Guess I won't be getting a response to my application then. Dang.
Is your avatar a seahorse or something out of Fraggle Rock? I think it's the former but will give props for the latter :)

Master of puppets, one, fade to black, then enter sandman are 1-4 for me
Nice historical handle.... Although I think we'd mostly associate him with quartering one William Wallace... at least that's how the movies portray it. I've not studied that specific era of British/Scottish history though so no idea of the historical accuracy.

I'm English and 6'5 and always loved the nickname longshanks
Wallace did meet that end from opposing Edward yes that much is historically accurate

He was known as the hammer of the scots

First, I love the cowboys-49ers matchup for Dallas at home, Jimmy G is a straight up JAG, plus they won’t have to face off against the Packers in 2nd round. I’ll take Tampa in a replay of the epic 1st game of the season.

Oh man, you just did a list on my favorite rock band of all time. I have seen Metallica live over 8 times, and I’m not shitting when I say they are the best live performance I have seen all 8 times. I like your list @Ketchum but any Metallica list has to start with ”Master of Puppets”, it probably is one of the Metal masterpieces of all time. I love ”For Whom the Bells Toll” from Ride the Lightning, the opening to Zombieland is top notch with this song in the opening, “Creeping Death”, “Fade to Black”, “Seek and Destroy” round out the top 5. I like a couple of their lesser known songs from Garage Days, Inc. and they like slipping in 1 from that album in the middle of their live set. I know how popular “Enter Sandman” is, and it’s a great rock song (Vtech entrance is awesome), but I don’t think it’s best from the Black album, give me “Nothing Else Matters”, it’s even better live, James is awesome with this song live. Also from Black Album next would be “Sad But True”. I do like a couple of songs from post-black album lineup, “Fuel” and “Cyanide”. Also, their rendition of Bugee’s “Breadfan” is freakin’ awesome, it’s not a Metallica original, but they kick-ass on that song!

That is my top 10. Love me some Metallica! By the way, if you are taking suggestions for list, may I request a list of my 2nd favorite Hard Rock band….., Iron Maiden!

How familiar are you with the first English Revolution (I recognize that there is an extreme amount of debate over calling that a revolution versus 1688)? I call it the first because I see both as a components in the evolution to what we call western democracy. I don't think you can decouple either from the American or French revolutions and the broader outcomes for western society. Anyhow, that period (1640s-1660s) is really interesting to me because I don't feel it gets as much attention as it should.

What events are you taking specifically about as the first English revolution. I've only ever heard that description being applied to the events in the late 1680's and as a second argument to ones in the earlier 1600's( is that what you are taking about in the 1640's -1660's and king Charles and his "issues"). Not an expert about that period but love reading history books and have read a couple about that time.

Quite a lot more intrigue and backstabbing in the war of the roses period of English history

“Based on the fact that a special assistant to the head coach (is that Dwight Schrute's position at Dunder Mifflin?) job has was posted on Sunday, a post that must be for Patterson.”

where can we apply?

I'm talking about the 1640s-1660s... I've done a little bit of reading and a little bit of listening to different podcasts on this period and from what I can tell there are a literal sh*t ton of different ideas about how governance should occur being thrown around. Obviously the monarchy was restored but I don't get the sense that it was ever really the same and this period really sowed the seeds for the 1680s. I think I read that this is the period when the idea that property shouldn't be the basis for citizenship and voting rights first appears, although not adopted yet (after the Greeks). I believe there are even some small groups who wanted to abolish personal property altogether (on religious grounds) which would be a forbearer to socialist and communistic ideals. It's really interesting because this predates Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Montesquieu, Hume, Rosseau, and Kant and many others who we see as the foundations for western thought. I think Hobbes predates this period and Locke lived through it. But otherwise, most of the great philosophers that impacted western civilization came after.

Good article Ketch. I would have included King Nothing and Until It Sleeps in my Metallica list but to each his own. Not a bad list at all.

B/S- Texas and OU are playing in the 'new' BIG XII in 2023 with BYU, Houston, UCF and Cincinnati.
(Sell) I think Texas is best-situated to not step into the SEC until it is prepared to do so on the field. Being able to say you're going to be in the SEC very, very soon is actually a better place for the athletics department than being in the SEC when you're not ready. The football program is not ready.
It’s late, and I should be asleep. So, I’m confused. Was this supposed to be “BUY”?

And if so, do you think we ride out the full GoR contract?

Our thinking is very similar regarding the mighty Met. See my list earlier in the thread. Very similar.

I’m still very happy that we have Beard long-term, but this team isn’t better than last year’s team, which is surprising to me.

I know he’s a defense guy, but I really hope this offense is due to having a hodge podge of portal guys and our PG being a disappointment so far, and not a feature of what his offenses are going to look like going forward.

There is at least a 10 minute stretch in virtually all of our games when I say to myself “this is absolutely unwatchable”. I drove from Colorado to Dallas with only my dog for company yesterday, with absolutely nothing else to do, and I still almost wanted to change the channel on the radio broadcast. Even listening to this offense is painful.
It's painful, man.

@Ketchum Can’t argue with your take on LTG but starting a pipeline to CA should also be part of equation with his recruitment.
I'd simply contend at this point in the process, that detail matters less than filling glaring holes that will cost you games in 2022.

Per your issue with records set in 17 game seasons as opposed to the normal 16 game season, if referring to Dak, his records were set in 16 games as he set out one entirely.
Just keeping it real.
I was referring to everyone.
