I mean... I don't think it's the end of the world.Ketchen, JMO...I think you under estimate the impact pay to play will have on the landscape of college sports particularly football without rules or standards.

I didn't.I get all of the high/low four star hit rate analysis.
Just don’t make it part of the kids signing day instant analysis. When we get a commitment, I want to learn about the kid. See some film and analysis. It’s fine if the analysis is balanced and you incorporate some of the kids shortcomings.
I appreciate you acknowledging the mistake. I’ll admit I was annoyed the LTG announcement turned into a conversation that wasn’t really about LTG.
I get all the stats regarding stars and making a roster, but we don't need a bunch of 5 stars to greatly increase our talent across the board. We got a lot of great trench players coming. They can become really good college players. You can have one of the best Olines in the conference and not necessarily have a bunch of those guys go on to make nfl rosters. What you need is all conference players (1sr thru 3rd team), really solid players that play well together, and a really good blind side tackle.
Believe me, I want higher stars everywhere though
🤷♂️Enter Sandman should be #1, the band would tell you that. Make the list 11 as it has to include Fade to Black.
That's certainly the hope.Patterson may be off the field but he’ll impact what we see on the field in 2022.
Carr's struggles have brought the whole enterprise down. I didn't even think that was an option going into the season.I think alot of folks warned about Beards lack of offensive development. Its starting to show. Hope he turns it around.
Anwar The Grinch? Is that a real thing? If so, I'll start using it.😂Anwar the grinch is probably the one who told you there’s no Santa.
Pretty sure you are wrong that the sky is not falling over NIL. How can it not when the big schools will now control all the top talent.
Thanks for sharing!Pretty good Metallica list.
Mine:
1. Master of Puppets
2. Nothing else Matters
3. One
4. Enter Sandman
5. Battery
6. Four Horsemen
7. King Nothing (Don't care what anyone thinks, I like it)
8. The Unforgiven
9. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
10. Through the Never
To be fair, your expectations were likely way out of whack and this stops that from happening.Count me on the list of not enjoying recruiting near as much after getting all the hit rates ingrained in my mind. Just crazy to look at a list of four mid four star players and think to yourself we will be lucky if one of those guys works out.
Bastard.I picked up Penny off the scrap heap and he carried me to a FF title. He came on at the perfect time as the Cowboys started limiting Zeke's PT.
Eric Crouch was a third round pick.Who care if a 4* makes the nfl or not. I care about if that shiny new 4* can be a + college player and win expected games (Kansas) and be a 50/50 against other top 10 teams. Eric Crouch was an amazing college player that didn’t sniff the nfl. I want good college players
I mean... 🤷♂️Question: In what world is One number 10!?
Answer: Ketchland
@Ketchum if the Larry Turner-Gooden of the world hit at an approximate 20% clip, what does a player from the portal hit at? Shouldn’t that we the comparison? How may players that Texas got out of the portal last season get drafted?
Yeah, you're shit out of luck.So your saying that the "Special Assistant to the Head Coach" spot on the UT employment website is for Patterson?
Guess I won't be getting a response to my application then. Dang.
Fantastic development within the program, great coaching and a little luck will go a long way.Ketch,
I’m aligned with an 8-4 season next year likely representing the ceiling for expectations. But why can a Baylor in year 2 under Aranda have the season they had with less talent? Better yet, what would it take for Texas to have that type of year 2 turnaround under Sark? As we say on OB…it’s mind-bottling.
Well, that was about as much fun as reading the results of my colonoscopy.
Let‘s get to the most important part of this weeks edition. Metallica. No Sanitarium “Welcome Home”, “One” and no ”Fade to Black” is downright criminal. ”Master of Puppets“ is their best song of all-time and one of, if not the best heavy metal sings of all-time. ”Enter Sandman” isn’t anywhere near the top 10. Also “Creeping Death” should make the list and maybe even ”Orion” which is an incredible instrumental.
sureconsidering bama is known for developing players, can you do an analysis of how their players stack up to the average on these stats per star rating?
The NFL does not do asterisks. They need to separate out all the records from 14 game season, 16 games and now 17 game season.
Boom!Regarding your Metallica list:
1- there are lots of choices for a top 10. All chosen songs are fantastic.
2- preference for early Metallica because they were more interesting and ground breaking albums. It makes sense.
3- you got number 1 correct.
Solid top 10
I did it back in 2012. Good memory.Am I having deja vu or is this the 2nd time you've done a Metallica top 10? I seem to recall you getting raked over the coals for leaving off Fade to Black then as well.
First, I love the cowboys-49ers matchup for Dallas at home, Jimmy G is a straight up JAG, plus they won’t have to face off against the Packers in 2nd round. I’ll take Tampa in a replay of the epic 1st game of the season.
Oh man, you just did a list on my favorite rock band of all time. I have seen Metallica live over 8 times, and I’m not shitting when I say they are the best live performance I have seen all 8 times. I like your list @Ketchum but any Metallica list has to start with ”Master of Puppets”, it probably is one of the Metal masterpieces of all time. I love ”For Whom the Bells Toll” from Ride the Lightning, the opening to Zombieland is top notch with this song in the opening, “Creeping Death”, “Fade to Black”, “Seek and Destroy” round out the top 5. I like a couple of their lesser known songs from Garage Days, Inc. and they like slipping in 1 from that album in the middle of their live set. I know how popular “Enter Sandman” is, and it’s a great rock song (Vtech entrance is awesome), but I don’t think it’s best from the Black album, give me “Nothing Else Matters”, it’s even better live, James is awesome with this song live. Also from Black Album next would be “Sad But True”. I do like a couple of songs from post-black album lineup, “Fuel” and “Cyanide”. Also, their rendition of Bugee’s “Breadfan” is freakin’ awesome, it’s not a Metallica original, but they kick-ass on that song!
That is my top 10. Love me some Metallica! By the way, if you are taking suggestions for list, may I request a list of my 2nd favorite Hard Rock band….., Iron Maiden!
Find someone in the Portal to start opposite Worthy on the outside. What is the plan at WR?
I'm not sure that's his best spot, either.I would have him where Muschamp was when he was here.
I’m sure happy that we landed LTG. **** the NFL.
You’re right Ketch, I DO hate the NFL, don’t watch it, prefer the passion and pageantry of college football. Of the 16 starters off the 2005 team that were drafted do you have data that shows how many of those players stuck ?
You can hate the NFL all you want, but 16 of the 22 starters in the Rose Bowl the night that Texas won the national title were drafted by NFL teams and two more played in the league as well.
That's the level of talent that is needed, not some antiquated idea of a team full of lunch pail types.
I get sick of people explaining away poor decision-making and planning.I get a kick out of OB panicking because we missed out on an edge rusher from Albany. We know Alabama and Georgia players haven’t entered yet, right? We know Sark/Flood/Brooks coached at Bama and they know Georgia’s guys extremely well, right? Anyone here want the best edge rusher from Albany over the 3rd best edge rusher from Georgia or Alabama?
define "stuck".You’re right Ketch, I DO hate the NFL, don’t watch it, prefer the passion and pageantry of college football. Of the 16 starters off the 2005 team that were drafted do you have data that shows how many of those players stuck ?
Never stifle the emergence of a new potential OBism.“Being able to have both at the same time is really cooking with grease.”
You mean “cooking with gas”.
