Ketchen, JMO...I think you under estimate the impact pay to play will have on the landscape of college sports particularly football without rules or standards.

I get all of the high/low four star hit rate analysis.

Just don’t make it part of the kids signing day instant analysis. When we get a commitment, I want to learn about the kid. See some film and analysis. It’s fine if the analysis is balanced and you incorporate some of the kids shortcomings.

I appreciate you acknowledging the mistake. I’ll admit I was annoyed the LTG announcement turned into a conversation that wasn’t really about LTG.

I get all the stats regarding stars and making a roster, but we don't need a bunch of 5 stars to greatly increase our talent across the board. We got a lot of great trench players coming. They can become really good college players. You can have one of the best Olines in the conference and not necessarily have a bunch of those guys go on to make nfl rosters. What you need is all conference players (1sr thru 3rd team), really solid players that play well together, and a really good blind side tackle.
Believe me, I want higher stars everywhere though

The point isn't to say you need only 5 stars., It's to properly set expectations for everyone across the board.

Count me on the list of not enjoying recruiting near as much after getting all the hit rates ingrained in my mind. Just crazy to look at a list of four mid four star players and think to yourself we will be lucky if one of those guys works out.

To be fair, your expectations were likely way out of whack and this stops that from happening.

It's going to depend on what you're looking for in the portal - immediate help or prospects.

It also depends on at what level of the food chain you're shopping at.

I’m aligned with an 8-4 season next year likely representing the ceiling for expectations. But why can a Baylor in year 2 under Aranda have the season they had with less talent? Better yet, what would it take for Texas to have that type of year 2 turnaround under Sark? As we say on OB…it’s mind-bottling.

Fantastic development within the program, great coaching and a little luck will go a long way.

Let‘s get to the most important part of this weeks edition. Metallica. No Sanitarium “Welcome Home”, “One” and no ”Fade to Black” is downright criminal. ”Master of Puppets“ is their best song of all-time and one of, if not the best heavy metal sings of all-time. ”Enter Sandman” isn’t anywhere near the top 10. Also “Creeping Death” should make the list and maybe even ”Orion” which is an incredible instrumental.

First, I love the cowboys-49ers matchup for Dallas at home, Jimmy G is a straight up JAG, plus they won’t have to face off against the Packers in 2nd round. I’ll take Tampa in a replay of the epic 1st game of the season.

Oh man, you just did a list on my favorite rock band of all time. I have seen Metallica live over 8 times, and I’m not shitting when I say they are the best live performance I have seen all 8 times. I like your list @Ketchum but any Metallica list has to start with ”Master of Puppets”, it probably is one of the Metal masterpieces of all time. I love ”For Whom the Bells Toll” from Ride the Lightning, the opening to Zombieland is top notch with this song in the opening, “Creeping Death”, “Fade to Black”, “Seek and Destroy” round out the top 5. I like a couple of their lesser known songs from Garage Days, Inc. and they like slipping in 1 from that album in the middle of their live set. I know how popular “Enter Sandman” is, and it’s a great rock song (Vtech entrance is awesome), but I don’t think it’s best from the Black album, give me “Nothing Else Matters”, it’s even better live, James is awesome with this song live. Also from Black Album next would be “Sad But True”. I do like a couple of songs from post-black album lineup, “Fuel” and “Cyanide”. Also, their rendition of Bugee’s “Breadfan” is freakin’ awesome, it’s not a Metallica original, but they kick-ass on that song!

That is my top 10. Love me some Metallica! By the way, if you are taking suggestions for list, may I request a list of my 2nd favorite Hard Rock band….., Iron Maiden!
