Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Stop being Fredo, start being Michael)

Bullseye!

Everyone is so intent on all the other stuff that they are overlooking/ignoring something that is literally staring them in the face. The players are showing themselves to not be very smart or intelligent or both.

It is not all on the coaches by any stretch of the imagination. And I'm not saying the the coaches aren't at fault. Because they definitely are. But the players are letting their coaches down.
The coaches are letting their players down, too.

yea it was my first true soul crushing let down. being so wrong and so disappointed so early was devastating. Of course I was in college and more absorbed and obsessed with the program to the point it was affecting my happiness. I made plans for that season and that’s where I f’d up

What are the chances of Herman doing the right thing and resigning at the end of the season? How about some integrity. Everyone knows he has less than a clue how to run a program like Texas. Im sure he even knows himself. Do the right thing TH, and resign. You'll get another good job. Just let us finally get a coach capable of running what should always be a top 5 program.

How the heck is Maryland from last year not on this list?

10T. 2015 at TCU
10T. 2003 vs. Oklahoma
9. 1988 vs. Houston
8. 1991 vs. Miami (Cotton Bowl)
7. 1997 vs. UCLA
6. 1994 at Rice
5. 1989 vs. Baylor
4. 1984 vs. Iowa (Freedom Bowl)
3. 2001 Colorado (Big 12 Championship)
2. 2008 at Texas Tech
1. 2010 Alabama (National Championship)

No one walks away from 20 million in a pandemic. No one's agent allows that.

I picked quite the year to start Orangebloods too.

as I’ve Gotten older and life’s evolved I’m at a point where it ruins the few hours after and then I’m *insert your Elmo gif

this week Is even more dicey for the fan base because of the bye week that follows. You could be riding high As a fan for 2 weeks or stewing until the next game.

Gosh, man, I haven't even thought of the leftovers going into the bye week on a second loss.

Ha, that's not quite what I'm saying. :)

What I am saying is that where everyone places its importance needs to be fine-tuned. The next time Texas signs a low four-star player ranked No.249 in the country, you should understand that Texas basically signed a three-star with a shiny sticker on it.

Of course, all of this might FEEL slightly different if you're following a program that develops above the national rates.

That ain't Texas.

LOL. I almost had ya. I would agree with that.

...the very following game and the one after and the one after begins the continued stretch of coin-flips that feel more like a two-chamber game of Russian roulette.
Anwar had a couple of GREAT lines in his Sunday column, but this one might have topped them.

yea brother, this is a big game. I feel like The vegas Odds moving from OU -2.5 to OU -3 is a sign people don’t think it’s fathomable they lose 3 straight. and that speaks volumes

I'm sure the friendly shit he's taken from his TCU contacts is enough to make it clear, but having the balls to do something about it is a different story.

I'd have a lot more respect for him if he went out of his way to correct the mistake.

He's supposed to be a wonder boy at fundraising, right?

Unfortunately the big money that donated to him before may now hold back because they think he's full of it.
At Texas, at least since Deloss Dodds, it has first and foremost always been about the money. When that starts to dry up changes will be made.

Gotta make the Top 10, maybe Top 5
1984 Georgia (Cotton Bowl)
Georgia 10 (9-1-1)
Texas 9 (11-0)

I was 10, I cried.

This game missing from the list is what jumped out to me. We are a muffed punt late in the 4th quarter from our 4th NC.

Am I crazy to put the Colorado loss and the Texas Tech loss above Alabama? After Colt got injured, that game was over. The other two were end of game heart breakers from a dropped int. (Tech) and a roughing the kicker (Colorado).
Both of those games took Texas out of NC contention.

I honestly believe one of the reasons that we feel as bad as we do after a loss is that Longhorn fans think the team is better than it really is. One of the biggest issues, for me, is that Sam is simply an average quarterback and most folks expect more of him than he’s able to give. Generally speaking, if your quarterback is average, that pretty much defines the team.

Oh, come on. He's better than average.

You remember the game different than I do.

Ditto, I distinctly remember turning to someone late in the fourth quarter and saying “we’re in good shape for the next three years” after seeing how Gilbert was playing. Obviously I later eat those words like a rebellious toddler.

That’s not to say I wasn’t disappointed, but the game went way better than I thought it would.

I thought Gilbert was taking the team down the field for the game-winning score. I truly did.

what was your record a month ago?

i actually mapped the same thing out after the TCU game. 7-3 at best, 5-5 at worst. My prediction is 6-4... I didn’t come up with at the beginning though. Kind of cheating after seeing 1/3 of the season.

Meyer argues that UT has a problem with player development development. I think it is more targeted than that. I would call it a problem with focus. Sure, Sterns will make it to the NFL because he has range and is a ballhawk, but Sterns, Foster, Green and Overshown are all poor to average tacklers. Likewise, Eagles has all the measurable, but both Eagles and Smith suffer from dropped balls. These problems have carried over despite new position coaches. What is thecproblem?

First time I think in my life that I’m just going to play golf on Saturday and not watch Texas OU. Texas football just isn’t enjoyable anymore

I think it's about 50 thinks and Herman has addressed about 4 of them.
