Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (The contract for my No.1 expires soon)

Good Lord do I want this to happen. Texas hiring John Harbaugh? SLAM DUNK! I'm not getting my hopes up.
No shit all this was going on three years ago and we got Charlie....hopes will stay right where they need to be, street level.

My fantasy league is a bunch of women. I hate when I see a league email come through.

@Ketchum I love that you think Texas big. This board is obsessed with Herman- and to me he is another Sumlin on a good day. (And yes Sumlin looks ok right now, but that too will pass.)

Herman arrived with some great recruits in the bag, he added a few himself- but he also took our scraps (Duke Catalon anyone?). If you run a clean program, and by that I mean bringing in quality athletes that don't end up on the police blotter- generally you don't pick up other schools' scraps.

He has yet to prove himself over 4 years, and he is "hot" because he succeeded with two very impressive bowl wins. But that alone does not make him the sure thing our program needs, especially when you listed 2 or 3 other sure things.

That's not really the issue. The issue is - to my mind - does Texas have the vision and forward thinking prowess to pursue a John Harbaugh? Does UT have the balls to approach JH and the skill and savvy to make him say yes?
Not likely

1) The other weird things about the 2015 class is three guys didn't qualify, Cecil Cherry left after a few months, while Ryan Newsome and Kai Locksley are no longer with the team.

2) Like you, it's hard to predict a win outside of Kansas.

3) Some Baylor folks believe UT was responsible for everything that occurred on their campus. Then guys left the program and came here. Baylor is coming here on a mission.

4) That fantasy trade was weird, but I just keep my mouth shut in our league.

@Ketchum

I do agree that Harbaugh would be a great coach but his his offensive philosophy will have to change to compete in Big12.

If you are going to write that Morris ran circles around Herman then you should have added...

Tom Herman ran circles around Jimbo Fisher and Bob Stoopes.

Maybe if we had Ollie Luck on board, but we don't. The only way I would spend time on Harbaugh is if he reached out to us.

So, were Duvernay, Hudson, Urquidez scraps? What a stupid remark.

Chip Kelly. His system would thrive in this state and conference. I'm pretty sure he'd hire a great staff. I'm more open to this possibility.
This dude would KILL it here at Texas! He's at the top of my list if I am the person making the call.

No.4 would have just depressed you.

I don't think John is a fantasy. Takes balls and big vision though.
I'm all in with you on this, but I think this is where not having a real AD kills us. Who is the person at Texas with the balls and vision to be vetting this stuff right now? I fear we are going to be led by dueling factions of donors.

This is only Herman's second year at UH, and I'm pretty sure every big recruit committed after he got there, and Duke Catalon didn't have off field issues that I recall. He only has one bowl win in one appearance. Otherwise, you nailed it.

The 2015 class is turning out to be a head scratcher. As for Baylor, I can verify that. They are pissed and actually believe Texas is what got Briles fired then add their recruits came here, makes it worse. What is perceived is no one outside of UT believed Strong was the right hire and all believe he was a token hire and the money is pulling e strings here. While I know that's that's not the case Strong looking bad now doesn't help.

Just got to my hotel room in Moore OK from Atlanta and ATL was leading when I boarded my plain, what did Dan Quin do? They call him Coach Bro on the radio in Atlanta

When I was told Kai Locksley left the team last week, which was confirmed, didn't hear you chime in about my sources
That's because your source was right. On the other hand, mystery butthurt high level source, not so much. He was just butthurt and you got played.

He made you look bad, own up to the error in judgement and people will probably move on.

Texas would never talk to Kelly.

Dabo isn't going anywhere unless and until Bama calls.

Peterson isn't going anywhere.

Harbaugh's contract is through 2017. His job is in no danger. He might be intrigued but you'd likely have to pay him $8m. I don't see that happening.

Which brings you back to Herman.

Yep. It's pretty obvious, and has been for a while.
