Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (The latest on Micah Hudson isn't great...)

Thanks for the kind words. I make up that my questions extend thought beyond the obvious by posing a bit different what-if’s. Your answers help me validate my speculations and I hope my questions create new ideas for you to mull over. Take care
Likewise, my man. Have a tremendous week!

With regard to people having issues with David Pierce, this is one of the biggest problems with the Texas fanbase: entitlement. Augie and Gus didn't get the one name destinations without having to grow and develop over many years. Gus only won the big prize twice in the 16 trips he made to the CWS.

Can't lose in the Finals if you don't win three series to get there

Didn't show up in the biggest moments. You could say he's the anti Emmitt Smith.

I can't imagine Emmitt would ever flop around the way Lebron does or shy away from having the ball in the most crucial moments.

Good work on Emmitt @Ketchum Honestly there may not be a bigger legit superstar who is more underrated than Emmitt. So many fall for the flash of Sanders but Emmitt was simply a significantly better all around RB and certainly a tougher one. Give me Emmitt all day

I'll believe Micah Hudson is going to play for Texas Tech the day he actually enrolls there, but the way that section was written sure wasn't very enjoyable. Sounds ominous about something bigger. Hope that's a blip in time.

@Ketchum doesn’t write something like that based on a blip in time. People have been ignoring some rather clear warning signs on this one. Here’s a hint. The moment Tech was reported as a major player over the likes of a tOSU was a big early one

Emmitt has the numbers. Barry was a better running back.

Barry Sanders was an incredible RB with the best highlights of all time...

That being said, he would rip off a dazzling 20 yd run and everyone would go "Oooohh Ahhh"; the next run would be for -3 yds and then the offense would be in 2nd and 13 and fail to score.

Look up how many years Barry Sanders had the most runs for 0 yds or negative yards. I know he led the league in that stat at least one year and I would guess multiple years.

Also let's talk about heart for a moment.

Go back to that 2nd Super Bowl against the Bills and re-watch what was known as "The Drive" where the Cowboys took the game over for good by giving the ball to Emmet every play except one (pass to Novacheck if I remember correctly).

Now show me any moment where Barry Sanders showed that kind of heart.

There's truth in this. Very Alabama football vibes at times.

LeBron is a 4-time Finals MVP

I really don't understand some of the thoughts about LeBro that many have.

Seriously... look at this resume.

I will fight the good fight all day long if that good fight is related to Emmitt Smith.

And I ay that as I guy that got stiffed by Emmitt for multiple seasons for an autograph back in the day when they trained at St. Edwards. 😂

Sorry, but Emmitt does not belong above Jim Brown if the standard is how their ability compared to their contemporary competition. Emmitt was no where near as dominant a force as Brown, who was a man among boys in the NFL. This is not close. Emmitt had the best line and blocking fullback in history opening holes for him.

I think your relative youth is showing with respect to an older player. And I never liked Jim Brown, love Emmitt.

If I had to guess, Texas will probably end up with a recruiting class that ranks somewhere between 8th-13th when the dust clears for this year's recruiting class.

That simply won’t cut it if we hope to be more than a glorified JAG in the SEC.

TowerLightJay gets it.

Daryl Johnson and that offensive line owe everything they ever achieved to Emmitt Smith and not the other way around.

So, so wrong. Totally upside down. That is not how it works. Never has been. Can't believe you think that.

The mistake that Sark can't make it giving out 15 scholarships to guys that are 2-3 year projects.

It's a waste of time in this age of college football.

Indeed. If you’re working with generally 25 a year and slots 17-25 are 2-3 star types then you are just wasting ur time.

I don't want to call out the issue and particular coach that helped create a bit of a disconnect, but it's not Jackson.
I know it isn't this exactly, but this has the feel of something like asking Colton Vasek about his lacrosse game (mistaking him for Ethan Burke)- just something about not doing the homework about the recruit and/or his family.

Which seems to be mostly out of character for this staff, but probably happens here and there with all staffs.

His dad played there, his girlfriend might go there and he might get 2 million in NIL from them.. oh, and he has the best relationship with their coaches.
Does his relationship with the coaches really matter that much? Would he follow Joey and his wide receiver coach to A&M if that job opened up next year?

Emmitt is the Hall of Fame player. The others were his band of merry men.

That's just a fact.

Most of these guys were complete Jags before he arrived. Look up Tuinei and Newton's careers pre-1990.

He's a great player no doubt. Arguably one of the best. Where he ranks can be debated, but there's no question his record in the Finals is a blemish on his resume.

Lol! He took the f’n CAVALIERS to the finals half of his total 10 appearances. By your dumb standards he would have been better off not dragging a bunch of JAGS well beyond their expectations.

How many times did he lose in the Finals with the better team?

The answer matters.
