Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (The QB decisions Herman has to make... )

LOL. Ketchum debate strategy chapter 1.

- Get caught saying something dumb.

- Come back with some little cutdown that in no way responds to his mistake.

- Demand that a poster comb through the archives to find all the nonsense he has posted.

- When poster goes on about his life, come back and say they have been found wanting.

I showed you in this very thread that you contradicted yourself, and made no sense. I posted your two completely contradictory statements, and it didn't phase you. How exactly would showing you any of your nonsense and hedging change your mind?
aaaaaaaaaand you still haven't listed anything I've been wrong about after suggesting I'd been wrong about everything...

How about post anything you have said that has been correct.

a. I've said all along that Buechele's freshman season was uneven and that everyone needed to prepare themselves for the fact that he might not be ready to be an All-BIg 12 level player.

b. I've stressed all off-season that Buechele is in year two and it's probably fair to ask what is being asked of him in year three.

c. I've correctly nailed Herman's thinking on the quarterback situation.

d. I said all along that Buechele would start the season opener.

e. I predicted that Ehlinger would start a game two weeks ago.

f. I've constantly pointed out that Ehlinger is a better and more natural runner, while also being more aggressive in areas of the field Shane typically stays away from.

g. I've stated that Jerrod Heard should be a full-time quarterback.

Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

I need actual posts. I know your hedging allows you to argue that you said those things, but others may disagree.

For contradicting yourself? Yes. I responded to your post that you think neither is ready, and apparently I didn't understand that. That shows a lack of understanding of degrees of readiness. Your words, not mine.

You haven't exactly been correct on any of this QB stuff no matter how often you try to say you have.
Both needed to RS but we don't have that luxury.shane needs to build up his body and Sam improve on his accuracy.Time and practice with a lot of hard work.

Don't feel bad, most on this board did not notice it and are in denial that it happened. Heck if Shane attacked those areas of the field successfully the job would most likely be his till he left campus.

Fingers crossed that the competition will yield positive results for both quarterbacks and our offense.... but on this board, expect an Applewhite vs. Simms dynamic to develop and fester.
Best man wins period,I hope Herman don't play games with that position like Mack did

Shane's frame is near plateau. He's lean muscle, great for long term health, but real mass isn't stacking and staying.

The accuracy thing is somewhat overplayed.

Shane is a career 60-percent passer. That needs to improve, especially when you consider that he throws so much underneath.

Sam was 55-percent on Saturday. That needs to improve as well.

Someone is babbling. Here is the quote I replied to.

Your quote makes ZERO sense. I pointed that out, and you then try to say that's what you already wrote. Then why did you write the quote?

You have been clueless on this topic for a long time. Babble on.
Neither is truely ready, maybe when they juniors

Both guys had four completions of 20+ yards. Sam attempted more down the field, just didn't complete many.
First game ever versus 11th game. And if I recall Shane had two dropped pick 6s. And was given 21 points from the defense and special teams in his whopping grand total of 41. I'll take Sam's outing over Shane's efforts against Kansas which are similar teams. Nearly all of Shane's passes and yards came from 2 yard flat passes or dumps to a running back and YAC. Many of his passes up field were ducks

He should still start if healthy but his upside is not near what Sam's is

Agreed and as I've said, I'm fine with Sam starting too, but I think Buechele has the slight edge at this point. Sam clearly higher upside and impressive with his first start.

Little birdie told me last night that he's hearing that the buzz around the team is that Buechele will be back this week.

It'l[l make practice today interesting.

One of them had time to make a sandwich while doing it. Like both guys and the different things they bring, just don't see Sam saving the offense this year. Lot to ask for a true freshman, even a special one.

No one is slobbering. He's not YET a plus-player. Neither is Shane.

The issue is which can get there first and which has a higher ceiling within the offense.
EXACTLY this. I think trying to decide which QB gives us a better chance of beating USC may be like me wondering which cologne will help me hook up with the most supermodels. Neither of these guys is magic, at least right now.

The real question is who gives us the best chance of maximizing our conference wins, and who is most likely to help us be the best we can be in the next couple of years. The jury is out, and for good reason. I think both guys have great potential, we just need at least one of them to step up and start showing it.

exactly my thoughts.

It might be asking too much, too soon for both of them and it won't be there fault.

I'm unwilling to agree with this at this time. I don't know that we've really scratched the surface of what either of these guys can do - they're just not close to being finished products yet.

No, but Sam is clearly ahead in the running department and that's a major part of this offensive scheme and college football in general. The ability to move the chains consistently with the QB run is essential.

It's just not a crystal-clear deal IMO.
