What if Mackovoc had recruited Drew Brees? Would we have hired Mack Brown? Drew Brees and Ricky in the same backfield? That would have been very interesting to say the least.I'm gonna need to marinate on that one.

It doesn't change 1997 and Mack has Brees instead of Major from 1998-2001.What if Mackovoc had recruited Drew Brees? Would we have hired Mack Brown? Drew Brees and Ricky in the same backfield? That would have been very interesting to say the least.
Is that going to make my Phillies better? You can watch MLB for free if you’re a T-Mobile customer.
Hook’em!
Thanks for taking the time to share some positives!Excellent start to the week. Excited to watch Bijan. And hopeful for the o-line recruits. Hopeful to see The kid from here in Jax join The Texas class.
The Vacation clips have me and my 3 boys laughing all morning. Thanks for the great write-up!
If the season starts and is then forced into a stoppage for a few months like we witnessed in European soccer and in the NBA .... be ready for it.
No. 5 - The most underrated Texas recruiting class of all-time ...
Might it be John Mackovic's Class of 1993?
While wondering if Shon Mitchell bordered on 5-star status over the weekend when writing about 5-star running backs, I found myself looking at old 1994 recruiting rankings from the National Recruiting Adviser.
The Longhorns finished ranked 10th in the nation that year in recruiting, but take a look at the roll call from that group.
QB James Brown
RB Shon Mitchell (also a member of the 1995 class)
OL Ryan Fiebiger
DE Tony Brackens
DB Bryant Westbrook
DB Chris Carter
DB Tre Thomas
PK Phil Dawson
The Longhorns signed only 18 players in the class, but eight of them turned out to be multi-year starters and critical pieces of the puzzle for the 1995 Southwest Conference and 1996 Big 12 title-winning teams.
Another way to look at it is that the class produced Mount Rushmore-level players at three different positions in terms of program history - quarterback, defensive end and place-kicker, while another (Westbrook) isn't far away from that kind of territory, eithe
(Sell) I think he's holding out for a job, and the Texas job might be among the jobs he'd consider, but I'm not sure I buy the idea that he's planning his next move around Herman's job specifically. However, I don't believe your theory is crazy.
What I've learned is that our perceptions of what you can and cannot do change in pandemics. You really can't do that with CFB IMO.
(Buy) I blame Derrick Rose.
I think the initiative would have to come as a mandate of sorts and who would give that to him?I've seen nothing from CDC that tells me he has the stones to make that deal happen.
Good idea. The class also included one of the underrated "what have beens" with Bryan Johnson out of Jersey Village. Calibrated for today's rankings you are talking a guy who would be no less than a 6.0 4-star. He was actually a few slots higher than Brackens on the Fab 55. Saw decent PT in '93 particularly as the season went on. Then grades (I believe) got him and he never played another season. Might be a decent "Where Are They Now?" piece.
What I've learned is that our perceptions of what you can and cannot do change in pandemics.
(Sell) Conservatism wins the day
why?At the end of the day, the calendar stays the same, and while there's obviously plenty of wiggle room for pro sports seasons, there really isn't for college ones IMO.
I sold the idea that he plays anywhere near enough to lose his redshirt.Confusing answer. Are you selling Hudson Card plays in '20 but not enough to lose redshirt? Because your subsequent comment contradicts your "sell." Barring a rash of unfortunate circumstances, there's pretty much no way Card DOESN'T redshirt.
I sold the idea that he plays anywhere near enough to lose his redshirt.
why?
Then college kids might have to move on.College kids move on. Not to mention having to "re-start" CFB would be quite an undertaking of all sports.
Correct. Thanks for getting down to the bottom of that, Encyclopedia Brown. But that's pretty much what the B/S was. To paraphrase, he plays in '20 but not enough to lose his redshirt. So that's why the "sell" was confusing when it was combined with your "conservatism" blurb. But obviously you agree he isn't going to lose his redshirt.
Comparing Fields's physique as a senior to pretty much anyone in our program is like night and day. Yancy is an asset.
(Note: I included Jamaal Charles, despite the fact that Rivals has him ranked as a high four-star because I absolutely had him ranked as a five-star.)
... Kansas City Chiefs starting guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif won't play a game in 2020 and for that he might deserve NFL Man of the year honors.
Ricky's highest rating as a senior was not a five-star. He was a general four-star level recruit, who slipped into a couple of national top 100 lists.Based on that your pretty much have to include Ricky then. He was inside the quarter-century mark and you are talking about a guy who in today's ranking system would have been no less than borderline 5-star.
ok.Sigh. His choice for sure, but lets not go overboard. His courage rivals that of Mrs Jenner.
I wasn't talking about anything you wrote. I'm comparing his body to current players.I was comparing Fields to all of the linebackers I have ever seen play at Texas in hopes of having a comparison for him.
Not sure what you're talking about.
for what reason?I wasn't talking about anything you wrote. I'm comparing his body to current players.
Because it's conspicuous how much more cut our players are and that Yancy is an asset. It's all in my original post bro.for what reason?
Yancy's value to the program is not yet defined IMO. We're in year four and his impact hasn't led to an increase in wins or developed NFL players.Because it's conspicuous how much more cut our players are and that Yancy is an asset. It's all in my original post bro.
I can't think of any game the last two years where we got physically whipped...maybe OU last year but that was more about OL not knowing what stunts are.Yancy's value to the program is not yet defined IMO. We're in year four and his impact hasn't led to an increase in wins or developed NFL players.
You'd be surprised at what elite people can get out of people.I can't think of any game the last two years where we got physically whipped...maybe OU last year but that was more about OL not knowing what stunts are.
Even the best S&C isn't ever going to lift bad coaches to wins or mediocre players to the NFL.
Cheating...obviously.No. 3 - What in the world is OU doing ...
Two consecutive weeks of workouts with Coronavirus testing for everyone in the program and two consecutive weeks of workouts without any positive tests.
On top of that, the Sooners moved up their season opener to August 29 in an effort to give themselves some flexibility moving forward into the season.
At this point, I'm absolutely fascinated at watching the numbers reported each week.
