Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Beyond the point of no return...)

Hell, as much of a guarantee on the box as Meyer represents, there's still risk associated in him coming to Austin, including a set of medical problems that might be a problem as soon as year one.

May have dodged a bullet.

At this point I fully expect OU to roll Iowa State in the championship game and Aggy to make the playoff.

It’s CDC job to have a plan B and a plan C at all times. That’s what good athletic directors do. This is on him if he cannot hire a replacement for a coach that needs to be replaced. If he can’t get it done then he needs to be on the hot seat also. He once said apathy will not exist in his programs. CDC is full of sh*t.

Coincidence that CDC is in the Texas Fight Kerstetter tweet celebrating with the team? He has been silent but you see him the eve of all these hints of Herman being retained.

No way Herman can be retained. All your reasons were sound but I'll add another..me not renewing my season tickets. No, I'm not BMD. My absence will negligible. As other posters have pointed out, if TH comes back, THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS is obviously not committed to excellence.
The good news is that I just don't think the admin has thought this out fully.

They soon will...

They went out there and sat on this for a week with no alternate plan that we know of I’m not shocked..

Jesus CDC’s plan was Urban or Franklin?
Give joe Brady a call.
Pay someone that knows the football coaching world to advise you
Do better
Be better

this is some real amateur shit for an AD to decide to circle back around on an employee he publicly shunned because he lacked a reasonable amount of contingencies to ensure he would be adequately replaced

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but it sure seems like your sources and the narrative was Herman was 1000% done. There were several backup scenarios if Urban didn't happen. Now it seems like magically none of that is there. Does any of your "sources" actually have a clue as to what's really going on? I guess Herman's public confidence that he would be back hasn't been unfound. Seems maybe he knew more than many.

I need a new hobby to spend my time and money.
There's been an absolute 180.

In having their pants pulled down, mine have been pulled down some in the process.

It's unreal.

CDC has shown multiple times when it comes to hiring process he isnt ready. He is great at being a politician and raising money. He did it with Shaka and now with Herman. He likes to play safe rather than take a risk.
The remote possibility or Tom coming back is crazy

CDC seems to have some real fear of making a bad hire and the optics of hiring someone like James Franklin after the year he's had.. I was told today that he's not alone.
If CDC brings TH back, it will be like Gus Fring retaining Walter White after trying to kill him. That didn’t work out for Gus, and I don’t see it working out for CDC. Hopefully he starts to see a pathway to someone closer to Urban Meyer than James Franklin.

I still wish to submit Jeff Traylor as a backup for Meyers refusal. Relatively young, great recruiter, great connections to hs coaches. The cost would not be prohibitive and i fI am wrong, the buyout will not be a back breaker.

Where do you get “remote?”

This is being floated by the admin. Look at Anwar’s reporting and Bohls’ Tweets.

@Ketchum if Urban is CDC, Hartzell and the BOR’s guy then will they just stay resolute through the month and January? A new hire doesn’t give you that option

Lame duck? Sorry, help me out here

Isn't his contract up after 2022? Other schools are going to negative recruit the heck out of that. Also I believe they will tell kids he was almost fired last year so he will always be on the hot seat unless he gets an extension. Maybe I am wrong.

Welp looks like another decade of mediocrity incoming.... glad I’m hitting the downslope so I don’t have to watch much more of this shit

James Franklin isn’t leaving Pen State to go to a dumpster fire. Lulz.

If they haven’t, that just goes to show they are incompetent. It’s usually not a good sign to continually have to be told how to do your job.
