Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying the quiet part out loud)

So your experience level for a major AD job should let you know that CTH on the sidelines next fall has a "cost" of 100 MM in money that won't be seen .
Accordingly, CTH will coach his least TX game NEXT Tuesday night.
We’ll see. For the record, I’d like to see him gone.

I can guarantee he won't have any TX headphones in Sept 2021

And for that, I thank you. Most people never capitalize most of the names I'm called. Rarely is it Geoff. ;)_
So who would you put your $ on (let’s say a $1k bet if you were to make one). Tom is coach next season or not?

Heard the same thing tonight. UM is still in play and UT is focusing on coaches and support staff in the final 4 he wants. As a contingency they are talking to other coaches and assistants, and some have already told us not to bother and some are listening. I was told the focus is on the final 4 (???) and NFL (???). No specific names were given, but I was told one name...Mullen was off the table. Final-4: Sark, Elliott? NFL: Rhule & Kingsbury? Could be others, but I don't know who that would be.

Hook'em

Sark?? 7 win Steve? yeah that'll go over well with the fanbase. and then there is that drinking issue. maybe he's put it behind him, but no guarantee he won't relapse. certainly, if Saban has him as OC it appears he's got that under control, Saban would never tolerate that from anyone on his staff.

Rhule has no incentive right now at least to leave the NFL. his NFL results are too early to tell how it will turn out but for now he's not on the hot seat so why would he leave?

Kingsbury??? two words .. Texas Tech. end of story. and why would he leave his NFL gig? he seems to be making some progress at Arizona.

speaking of Mullen, who i don't think would leave UF in the first place, he just got slapped with NCAA violations.

Mullen's early success at UF means he wouldn't leave UF for Texas. what's his incentive? start over at Texas where he immediately elevated UF back into a SEC contender?

UF also has bags full of booster money. if Texas were to make him a large offer they can match it. and right now at least, they would because of his results. they don't want to start over and end up with the next Will Muskrat. bahaaa

OU has a major drop off at QB next year. I just wanted to get this post out of
The way @Ketchum

no they aren't. Rattler had a solid first year as a starter. his qb rating is just below some dude named Trevor Lawrence. 68 percent completion percentage. one slight knock .. 25 to 7 TD to INT. actually good numbers for a first year starter. yeah he might regress a bit like Colt did in his second year, try to do too much on every play. but Riley will reign him in on that.

odds are ZerOU gets at least solid qb performance if not great out of Rattler for the next couple of seasons, or three unless he posts killer numbers and goes pro.

So who would you put your $ on (let’s say a $1k bet if you were to make one). Tom is coach next season or not?
No.

But, I'm torn. I KNOW the people behind the scenes are saying this. I also know that CDC is the face of all this and he was about 5 seconds away from putting a lot more into that release 10 days ago.

I think it comes down to making sure they have a hire in place. I'd be stunned if they made a move to hire someone like Sark. That is NOT the level of hire they have deemed essential.

It comes down to not allowing themselves to end up with a B-hire.

No.

Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. But is Texas even viewed as a great job anymore by A level coaches?

No.

exactly. while Herman has clearly been better than Strong, a B hire and a gamble .. Strong was untested in Power 5 play would be worse than keeping Herman for another season.

Herman has been successful at Texas just not elite. if you jet Herman for a B hire you get three seasons of Charlie. Texas can't keep changing coaches every 3 to 4 years by making B hires.

posters might find this highly amusing .. to say the least .. according to 247 sports Herman is the 15th best college coach! note this appears to be based on 2019 results. no word on 2020 .. yet.

"Important note: The following list was compiled before the start of the 2020 college football season."

enjoy your humorous post of the day. yer welcome.

Yes, but that doesn't mean they will leave another level-A job. Timing is everything.

Pretty similar to most lists that came out prior to this season.

What is worse than that IMO is the fact that so many are willing to accepts 6-3 as a positive trend and that 3-4 loss seasons are good...
No, if we would have been able to play the three canceled games, we would probably be 9-3 and playing for a ten win season.
Would that satisfy me? No, of course not.
We needed to play those two games to install the offense and defense before we started conference play.
Than we might have had a satisfactory season.
So close and yet so far.
A satisfactory season and Herman wouldn’t be on the hot seat and recruiting would be great.

Wow. You just proceeded to deploy your redundant Passer Rating obsession to completely trash Sam Ehlinger and essentially blame the inaccuracy of UT’s 2nd all time passing leader for ALL of UT’s shortcomings under Herman. So the reliable warrior and team leader who, more than any other player, is responsible for staving off 3 losing seasons in the past 4, deserves this type of classless, irresponsible send-off?

Did it ever occur to you that a QB’s passer rating is greatly determined by the OC, the offensive scheme, the caliber of receivers and O-Line and not just the QB’s accuracy? Did you happen to notice that Jalen Hurts, not exactly an elite passer, posted a 171.3 rating his one season at OU in The Lincoln Riley system surrounded by great talent? Like Jalen, Sam makes All American and gets invited to the Heisman ceremony if he’d had the good fortune to play in Lincoln‘s offense.

Disappointing.
purchase a bidet and wash your ass. you will feel better bruh.

You keep postulating that Tom Herman is going to let these two new coordinators put in completely new schemes ...that's not going to happen...as you have seen.

I don’t think Sam’s girlfriend blows him this much.

I think that has happened. The defense was good the last four or five games and the offense finally started playing in the KSU game. I wish we could have played the Kansas game for practice (and observation) before the bowl game.
I like our current staff.
I have a lot of faith that CDC will make the right choice for Texas. Find a great coach as a replacement for Herman or keep Herman and give him (force him) what he needs to be successful.
New practice facility. Improved support staff. Etc. You name it.

Well, it's all moot now.
TH will coach his last TX game next Tuesday.
