Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Surprise! Issues exist)

In the mid 2000's, my Dad won a big award and the ceremony was at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage museum in OKC. Serving as tri-emcees that night were Robert Carradine (think Revenge of the Nerds,) Ernest Borgnine, and William Devane, aka Kelly Leak's dad.

After the ceremony, I said hello to Mr. Borgnine and told him the last 15-20 minutes of The Wild Bunch were among my favorite scenes of all-time, then walked over to William who was talking to some folks and signing some autographs. When there was a lull in the conversation, I told him that my buddies and I were huge late 70's/early 80's movie nerds, and that he had famously uttered one line which we still proudly say to this day.

Devane turned to me, got a big-ass smile on his face, looked me in the eye, and said, "Let them play."

True story.
Devane didn’t ask you if you wanted to buy gold? Lol

What? How?? FSU qb just throws the ball up in the air without looking or caring. We would go nuts if Ewers did that.
First the physicality of the game
The intensity
And the FSU qb yeah, he does some real stupid shit but his pocket presence, leadership attitude.

And oh my the way

all accurate IMO - interior line did not play well. I just don’t get it.

Quinn isn’t a first round pick - yet. He’s gotta call Shedeur Sanders and pick his brain. Dude learned some things from Tom Brady that he uses in his game.

Johnny Be Good theme song was performed by Judas Priest, it’s actually pretty good.

Thanks for your hard work Ketch

How many played on Sundays?
All I remember from that year/game is telling my father while at the Coliseum we are going to win this game and he bet me $50 just before VY ran it in.

@Ketch, I posted this is a couple of other threads…I agree that QE has to figure out the long ball, but neither one of these QBs for FSU/LSU has completed a pass more than 10-15 yards from the LOS.

If you have athletic WRs/RBs, just get them the ball in space and let them go. That’s how we scored 3 of the 4 TDs yesterday. That’s how Kyler, Bradford, JFF, and Jackwagon Mayfield all won Heismans. Play to your strengths. Don’t force the long ball on 1st-and-10 or 2nd-and-long risking to put the offense behind the chains, and giving the defense a greater chance to stop you on 3rd down. Also helps when the interior OL is suspect to say the least.

Just sayin’….🙂
Sark…

Florida State and LSU are at a whole different level
Agree, of course this game is has much higher stakes and the teams are pretty rev'd up. But the eyeball test says these guys are more athletic than we are. Also, the QBs are so much more mobile.

Nothing changed in my book.

I see a 9-3 team until proven otherwise.

I think he’s right.

And I suspect Malik is the better QB just needs a bit more experience.

And Ketch nailed it on Ewers and the first round. Matter of fact, I watched a lot of football this weekend and spotted a few QBs that looked better than Ewers. Without that deep ball his stock will continue to fall.

Every time I log onto this board I think that maybe people have calmed down and realized how dumb and awful they have been, yet every time I see more of the same crap. The constant defamation of our own players on here is ridiculous, as is the fact that there are no consequences for those that do.

Btw, if you didn’t watch it you missed a great game. Sheddeur Sanders played like a top 5 pick and Travis Hunter is a treat to watch on both side of the ball, and the freshman running back, Edwards is faster than any of our backs. The players never give up on plays no matter how far out of the play they look. I give @deronjohn all kids of grief in the Corral but he is right on Deon as a head coach. It was special watching him and his buddy since little league and head coach at Trinity Christian hugging Deion and crying when the seconds ticked off.

I thought CU played great.

@Ketchum still on the half glass full. Biggest jump in team performance is typically week 1 to week 2. If QB1 can improve 20% it is going to be a pretty historic season. Weapons are there and seemed to flash week 1.

Blue seems to be more compact of a runner than the other two but happy we have the depth in that position room. Having flashbacks to 2011 with a carousel of RB injuries.

Perspective, I suppose. Gilbert was probably a better pro than college player.
No way Ewers is a first day draft pick, and if he comes back next year, he’s probably the third best QB on the team by then.

You ever considered maybe this place isn’t for you? Maybe you’re a little too soft.

Did something happen to Catalon? I’m still confused about his play and status.

(Sell) I'm still not sold on Milner for the long haul, at least not as much as I am that Ewers will have a statistically solid season as a passer. Milroe might have a better record as a starter, though.

That’s fair. Although I think Milroe has a chance to put some rather impressive numbers. It’s hard to deny he wasn’t appreciably better in game one against a better opponent. Obviously we’ll see.
