Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Trying not to be too hyperbolic, but...)

@Ketchum, I keep seeing everyone talk about Corum, and he keeps getting all the love and highlights.

I decided to compare his and Bijans stats, and Robinson’s has about 100 more total yards and 2 fewer touchdowns. I get Michigan is highly ranked, but why is he getting all the publicity over Bijan?

This is extremely nitpick regarding Bijan, however, my only critique is he needs to be more physical at times. He likes to dance but sometimes he needs to lower his pads and get 5 instead of dancing.

Roschon is better at this than Bijan currently.

I agree with the rest of the “hyperbole” though- Bijan is a special player and a joy to watch!
Long post....I have been saying this same thing since last year. He reminds of Reggie Bush where when Reggie was in college he knew that he was so good and no one could really get a clean hit on him or juke and make people miss that he danced a lot while trying to juke people out and for the most part it worked for Reggie. Well for Reggie it didn't really work for him in the NFL when the defense was all over him when he did those same college moves. I know because I am a Saints fan and was always yelling at the TV for Bush to just make one cut and turn the **** up because he was to good and fast for him to sit there and dance. The times Bush did make one move and turn it up field he made great runs. I see the same thing in Bijan. He dances way too much instead of make one or two cuts and turning it up field. He is more powerful than Bush but not as fast. I'm saying it now that Bijan will not be as good of an NFL RB if he doesn't learn that he can't dance for 3-4 seconds. JMO!

You just answered your own question. That's how it works in football. I don't like it but it is what it is and its not going to change.

I get it, it’s just frustrating. Corum runs through some big holes against a bunch of terrible teams.

Robinson is so much more of a complete back than Corum.
Oh I'm just as frustrated. Everyone in the country knows Bijan is the best in college football but no one will win a Heisman if your team is not at least in the top 10 by end of the year. I think Texas can get there if they take care of business the rest of the way. Then win the BIG 12 Chip! If Texas does that Bijan will be a dark horse to make it to NY.

Ketch what is the likelihood Bijan comes back next year considering all his NIL deals he is getting? Do you think that he and any others would come back if they feel they have a chance to run the table and make the playoffs next year?
Why do people still ask this? If you’re an RB, you have to go get paid. There’s isn’t enough longevity to wait around anymore. No, he won’t be back.

Re: Bijan vs Charles…without looking at stats…I just don’t see the explosive plays, and I see too many run into the Oline and stop for no gain plays. Could be wrong - but that’s what my head sees. He is really good - but not Earl, Ricky, Charles, DForeman level.

Glad to see you think Texas has the best defensive personnel in the B12. I agree. Which begs the question, is it the X’s and O’s or the Jimmy and Joes as it relates to these stats that you mentioned…?

“88th in the nation in third-down defense (41.4-percent), while the defense still ranks 112th in turnovers gained”

A quarter-by-quarter look at Quinn Ewers on Saturday:

1st quarter: 4 of 5 for 36 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (140.5 rating) and -16 yards rushing
2nd quarter: 7 of 10 for 90 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT (211.6 rating)
3rd quarter: 4 of 9 for 30 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (72.4 rating) and 3 yards rushing
4th quarter: 2 of 2 for 16 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (332.2 rating)

That's one bad quarter (3rd), one meh quarter (1st), one good quarter (4th) and one exceptional quarter (2nd).

(Note: His third quarter would have been aided very nicely if Casey Cain hauls in the deep pass he dropped.)
There were people in the game thread (most notably @qwanseeker and @Bum Steer) who thought Quinn should have been pulled for Card. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. It was the height of stupidity. A) he wasn’t playing bad and B) that’s how you wreck a young QB’s confidence.

The only thing he doesn’t have is breakaway speed. From a skill set, he’s got everything else. Not sure we’ve ever had one quite like him, as ketch said.

He’s certainly unique in his own way, will be top 5 when he leaves. The top 3 were different in that the whole stadium knew who was getting the ball and no one could do anything about it. Bijan is special but he’s in a different era, different system and is a different back. It’s not a knock on him but I’m not sure it makes any sense trying to compare him to Earl, Ricky, or Cedric.

There was a moment in the game where Bijan came off the field and Choice was gesturing to him to “hit the hole”. He can easily correct that as his game moves forward.

100% agree on Bijan and I’ve been saying it for a few months. I’m not old enough to have seen earl, and was lucky enough to see Ricky, et al. All absolute studs, but bijan is the best pure rb we’ve ever had. Unreal talent.

I look at it like Kobe. Is he better than MJ? No, but he’s the best all around bball player from a skill standpoint to ever play the game
I can't go so far as to say he's better than Ricky.

Chris Gilbert played three seasons when there were only 10 games in the regular season, plus a bowl game. Eleven games per season.

Agree about Quinn's game. IMO Sark risked losing the game by going so one dimensional. That is a bad idea with the receiving talent we have. He hardly dialed up Whitt and Sanders at all. He put the entire game on the line on the line with the fourth down call to Xavier. A less than good throw or X. not being open, we lose the game. It did not have to be that hard. Poor game for Sark IMO.
a. Chris was a great college player.

b. Indeed.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was really happy that Jordan Whittington finally got into the end zone on Saturday for the first time in seven games. With as well as he's played this season, it's hard to believe that he hadn't scored yet.

* Speaking of Whittington, he had only two targets on Saturday, which seems like a crime against humanity.
Didn’t know he hadn’t scored all season. He’s been everywhere and done it all. Shocking.
2 targets is a tragedy. Wow.

Number three on your list of dinner parties from the nutty Professor; you’re going to walk over here but you’re going to Limp Back! 😂

Your post made me moist. 🤣 🤣 🤣

You forgot the Hannibal dinner scene. Not many movie scenes feature homemade cooking from scratch these days.

Honestly if we go on the road saturday and beat OSU
KSU will go down as well. Most people think this is either 1-1 or 0-2. I think we light up OSU.

caveat...if the same Ref Crew that called bama comes in we lose. Simple as that the official responsible for PI will not throw a flag in our favor. Go back and watch. He's also the one who threw the targeting call on the potential safety.
OSU is going to score points. It might take 40 to win. Obviously, Texas is capable of that.

Quinn will need to protect the football.
