Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (I have something to say about The Eyes of Texas...)

We're paying someone a shit ton of money, and it will make the Jimbo contract blush.

That's what happens when you commit extra money to an unproven coach for no reason whatsoever, and let your program slide a little bit lower every year.

Throw in The Eyes and that image of Sam, the chickens have come home to roost and we deserve it all.
Everyone gets paid. Nothing gets done.

Great write up. I will say this to my last breath, you can’t just negotiate with the players about “The Eyes” they have to be made to understand it is not racist. Show them the National championship game and how united everyone was singing it. If they are not disabused of that narrative it’s an empty concession. It’s analogous to when you would have a fight with your brother and your mom would make you say you’re sorry to him and you would say it to make her go away.
They already negotiated. The AD and school admin just forgot to ask for anything.

Despite what my account says, I've been here since the days of Ryan Perrilloux. I canceled my first account specifically because of @Ketchum in 2018.

I can honestly say this is your finest and most impactful work.

The image of Sam alone will forever stain Tom Herman throughout the state of Texas. I've had aggy friends texting me all weekend who were just as pissed at Coach Herman as I was.

The Eyes "problem" is a result of social media's dumbing down of America. There's no room for context and nuance anymore, everything boils down to "you're wrong, I'm right, you're also evil." The truth lives in the grey area where the majority of America used to reside, but not anymore.

Best Sunday write up you have ever produced. Spot on. Just a historical addition- Hugo Boss designed and produced the entire SS uniform all the way down to the “deaths Head” emblem itself.

Well said all around.
Thanks for your work and insight on this. I ignored the issue CDC-style for the most part but Sam pic has pissed me off for 24 hrs now.
Both your and Anwar's columns were great and right to the point. What is the expression " the lunies are running the asylum!"

@Ketchum I remember when you were at KEYE and most of the longhorn online stuff went through Austin360.

Hell, I was a member of your first web site. Don’t even remember what it was about. Something to do with the Heisman I think. And have been around as a member of all your stuff day one.

Mostly that just means I’m old.

However, that is the best thing you have ever written by far. Ok I just remembered the thing you wrote about your dad. That is number one. But this is right there.

I teared up a bit with the Adams stuff. Seeing him and Vince and Mack and hearing the Eyes.

Great Job.

I was extremely done with the game and Herman in the 4th.

When Sam refused to allow them to lose I got really emotional. You could just see his guts and heart right there.

The only time I’ve gotten that Emotional during a sporting event (meaning feeling deep overwhelming something) was the Olympics when that British 400 m runner blew his Achilles and his dad ran on the track to help him finish. So that’s a long time.

I was just really moved by Sam. That kid deserves so much more from his coach.

Anyways. Kudos

You might like radio, you might like podcast but after 21 yrs of our Orangebloods love affair when you take the thoughts inside your head and your heart and then put them to paper you are truly using your God given talent. I told you the other night off script Geoff is the best. We don’t have to agree on every point I don’t think anyone on orangebloods wants 100% robots.

I love @DKR-3rings thinks everyone is an aggy

I love that @drunk randoke and @AnwarsFedora are the Brennan Huff and Dale Dobeck of Orangebloods

I love that @harrylime busts my ass over my hatred of the Big 12 conference

just know we appreciate what you do and what you go through.

great writeup. You had to be burning the midnight oil. Heck you were active for the Rant post last night.. thanks..we needed that.

I've sang the Eyes at my graduation ( seems like eons ago), at a close friend's deathbed as he took his last gasp (Jose) at this funeral and other funerals, at weddings, at my daughter's 3 graduations (all her degrees from UT... she is the Walter Cronkite poster child/person) and at numerous graduations. Traveling with a groups of longhorns to away games we have sang it when the plane landed. I know of some tombstones that have The Eyes of Texas are upon you etched on the headstone.

I don't want to sound as if I am trying to top anybody's association with the Eyes. I have sang the Eyes at THE rose bowl with tears in my eyes. I have sang it at 44 straight OU games..even the routes. I sang it (teeth chattering) freezing my ass of in 1990 Miami Cotton Bowl massacre. .. I could go on and on. I've had season tickets since 1977 and been to numerous away games. I was there singing it with Sam Saturday.

Just about every season can have one pic associated with it.
2005 VY RoseBowl
1999 Ricky's Run
1977 Earl running through the SMU defender
the season of the last Aggie game; The FG!

others can post and add

and for 2020: we have Sam alone. We could run the table this year, win the conference championship, and whatever bowl game ,\...

the 2020 Sam Alone is forever burnt in our eyes

The moniker for this season 2020 Sam Alone

From a week one subscriber under a different handle, Anwar and Ketch did super fine jobs today. Texas has made The Eyes issue much more difficult than it needed to be. Sam will forever live in history to me for his courage, competitiveness and toughness. He deserves better.

You can take your time. The point of my post was not that. It was to complement you for a much better experience over the last several months and probably your best 24 hours that I have seen since I have been here.

We all have special memories of that night, but that was powerful. Still have a picture of me and my brothers right after the game. Best Eyes of Texas ever. One of the best nights ever.

Keep up the good work.

Great write up Ketch! Enjoyed my last beer of the day put my feet up and read.

"Dabo makes 9 (million per year) and Urban will want 10," the source texted me. "We've never wanted to pay more than what we're already paying Tom."

This tells you everything you need to know about the shot callers at Texas. Winning is not important enough to make the proper investment.
F*cking ridiculous that the University of Texas is ok with being outspent by f*cking Clemson. For f*cks sake man. I could throw up after reading that

@Ketchum

Awesome write up!

Perfect encapsulation of collective thoughts.

Time for the guys earning big boy $ to do big boy things.

Get some sexy time with the wife and a good night’s sleep.

Ketch, I know I give you a hard time sometimes in the soccer threads, well because some of your takes are out there especially if they are not 'Pool related. But thanks for all the work this weekend. This was fantastic as was the chat.

I have been a member for 10 years more or less, but nonetheless this is the absolute highest honorable article by a sports professional I have read. My opinion isn’t baseon the fact that I agree with you one way or another. The integrity and summation of history, facts, validated data and perspective are remarkable. I have never understood it this way but you are a literary genus. I really hope that our generation X read this with an open mind. Actually all generations need to read the points you are making. God bless you sir and I wish you would publish this outside of this medium.

WTF does being gen x have to do with this??
