Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying the quiet part out loud)

BTW, you know a HC is running on fumes with the fanbase when the S&C guy starts getting heavily criticized. The S&C guy narrative is a fascinating one. They are literally one of the most exciting things to the fanbase "f'n A we got MAD DOG MADDEN!!" upon the hire of a new coach to literally one of the most criticized "Fat Dog needs to GO."
we've seen this play too many times.

Will you please do a thread on who is actually in play? I know you’ve done stuff on your candidate wish list but who is actually truly in play? I feel like this is typically a discrepancy other than with Herman
I think the list is small, which is why RLong is projecting a bear market next month.

You realize he also hates the entrance requirements and not being able to redshirt players or pay his assistants well?

If he has a bad ass staff in place, he doesn't have to love it.

It's a long shot but not an impossible one.
Man I can’t understand how people see what Kelly has done at his last couple of stops and think he’s the answer to anything. He’s be outta Austin with the quicks. That’s not even mentioning how abrasive he is with people. Texas high school coaches would be out on him

He ain't my cup of tea, but he can coach the hell out of some football.

Where you on this board or social media this weekend?

Yeah, no different than any other time. Everyone was hoping aggy and blowu would lose. I did see Looch tweet about 50 times over the weekend trying to rationalize aggys super weak schedule and getting humiliated by 4 scores by Bama as support that they had a stronger case than Notre Dame to make the playoffs. Aggy is not a top 10 team, let alone a playoff team. Again, the fact that UNC is favored by 5 should tell you all you need to know.

Dominant well coached teams with a lot of talent do no struggle against Vandy, LSU and Auburn, nor do they lose by 4 Tds to anyone.

a. How is talking about the importance of Card the same as going head first all-in on proclaiming a player to be great?

b. I'm not schitting on Sam. Pointing out his passing game limitations after his career is merely presenting facts.

c. Card has less to do with those three than a couple of other issues, mainly the state of the program for Ewers and simply being respected as quarterbacks via the OC for the other two.
A. I agree with the importance of that position being elite. My point wasn’t calling you out, rather others on the board who have suggested his greatness.

B. I didn’t say you were, (probably poor choice of words on my part) But plenty of folks on the board who do.

C. Ok I can buy that on Ewers. For Milroe and Jackson perceiving lack of respect can come from coaches paying more attention to the shiny object in the QB room.

@Ketchum

Who you got on a neutral field?

A&M vs OU

A&M vs Florida

I would have to think Aggy would be Vegas dogs in both of those game.

I just think Yurcich doesn't really like dual-threat quarterbacks that need to develop most in the passing gamer and he can't hide it, which is kind of the job-task.

Recruiting and roster management is requires lying and some faking. His inability to look JQJ and Milroe in the eye was the serious undoing.

The guy is 10-21 at UCLA during a time that USC is down!!!!! He’s not the answer. I feel like one of your requirements is a big name and that’s not a good plan.

I feel pretty confident in saying that 3-4 years down the road, at least one of those 2 guys is going to seriously have us regretting we lost them. Honestly, it's a bit stunning how he's quietly managed to f*ck up our QB room.

This is true

This is true

Here are the S&C guys we've had:
Mad Dog
Wylie
Pat Moorer
McKnight

McKnight is quickly trending in the same direction as the previous 3. It's the reality of the situation in that the S&C guy is so closely tied to the fortunes of the HC because he is usually the Clemenza/Tessio to the HC's Don Vito.

For weeks he said Herman was toast, then he wasn't. He doesn't know shit other than running back and forth between sites and quoting mods. FIRE HERMAN HIRE URBAN!!

This message board thing may not be for you.

I also see you're obsessing over me again.

We hated Wylie but he seems to be doing okay now at OU.

Haha. Grow up and quit stating stuff as fact all the time. Why do you like to act like you know something you don't, does it make you feel important or cool?

I will post whatever I like old sport. Also this whole message board thing might be too much for you.

@Ketchum Please answer the following questions
1. Texas football program under Tom Herman is a significant upgrade compared to Mack Brown/4 years and Charlie Strongs three years. Under TH we finished number nine in the country And won the sugar bowl in 2018. Won 3 consecutive bowl games including two teams that were ranked in the top 10. significantly upgraded our quarterback position and currently have two potentially outstanding running backs. We will have three and possibly more players drafted for the NFL this year.
2. This was a Covid pandemic year with almost entirely new supporting coaching staff. Short of UM or another head coach with similar status this year is nothing more than a Mulligan.
3.Recruiting issues do you have something to do with all the negativity being sad but people like you and Many on this site.

OU might have won 6 straight in a very weak conference but are 1 and 4 playing the big boys and still Florida ahead in 2 weeks.
