Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying the quiet part out loud)

My wide and I are watching tonight. She's never seen it, she claims.

Such an underrated movie. There are so many lines in that movie that are hysterical and relatable. The best line of the movie: "You know what, Mom? You know what I'm going to get you next Christmas? A big, wooden cross. So anytime you feel unappreciated for all your sacrifices, you can climb on up and nail yourself to it."

He inherited Mayfield, a senior and NFL talent. Then

Inherited a future nfl starting qb his first year. Then, two years in a row, future NFL starting quarterbacks transfer to his program. This year he has a young quarterback but during none of the years that he has been there as he faced a Texas team with a good coach. And you really think he would’ve beat Iowa State if Purdy had not thrown four interceptions? Beating Texas is the standard in the big 12 if Texas has a good coach. Until that happens, there will be questions about Riley. You’re welcome to your own opinion

lol. He “inherited” Mayfield after he had already developed him two seasons as OC. Literally NOBODY saw Mayfield as a first rounder when he transferred to OU. Literally NOBODY saw Murray as a first round pick whEn he transferred from aggy after washing out there. And save maybe for me and a few others, NOBODY thought Hurts had 2nd rd ability. You should look for the common link. Sure, you’re entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to state,as fact, it sux.

Heard the same thing tonight. UM is still in play and UT is focusing on coaches and support staff in the final 4 he wants. As a contingency they are talking to other coaches and assistants, and some have already told us not to bother and some are listening. I was told the focus is on the final 4 (???) and NFL (???). No specific names were given, but I was told one name...Mullen was off the table. Final-4: Sark, Elliott? NFL: Rhule & Kingsbury? Could be others, but I don't know who that would be.

Hook'em

sure why not - @drunk randoke

I think people forget the stories and rumors going around that Charlie might come back after we lost to Kansas if he beat Tech. That was dire.

How many times does someone have to tell you we played TCU in one final game, not Tech.

It wasn't the OU offensive line that made them special (see the NFL yesterday).

On Sunday afternoon, Oklahoma’s quarterback from the 2019 season squared off against the team’s quarterback from the 2018 season, as new Eagles QB1 Jalen Hurts made his second NFL start against Kyler Murray’s Cardinals. The result was one of the most fun games of the year: Hurts and Murray combined for 744 passing yards and six touchdowns against one interception—plus 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. With just one field goal and one safety filling out the rest of the 33-26 final, Hurts and Murray accounted for 54 of the 59 points scored in the game.

If the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band had been at the game and played “Boomer Sooner” after every touchdown by Murray or Hurts, every successful extra point, and every first down by their offenses—I think this is the formula—they would have played Boomer Sooner at least 60 times.

I heard Riley calls collect when phoning QB recruits.

Since when is making fun of aggy and nourishing one‘s soul with aggy tears behavior to be frowned upon? Same for hating all things dirt burglar and wishing them misery and ill in everything their cheating, filthy asses do.

really dumb take by @Ketchum

also, your Christmas list has some major flaws

That all said, Merry Christmas, hope you and your family have a great one.

It's one thing to make fun of Aggie when you don't define your lot in life by it.

It's another when you're forced to. That's when those charging become the charged.

(Buy) You're seeing the difference between landing monsters and not. When you have a team full of physical freaks, yeah, you're going to notice. What you're seeing is a bunch of future pros, and they look different than dudes who won’t be.

BTW, you know a HC is running on fumes with the fanbase when the S&C guy starts getting heavily criticized. The S&C guy narrative is a fascinating one. They are literally one of the most exciting things to the fanbase "f'n A we got MAD DOG MADDEN!!" upon the hire of a new coach to literally one of the most criticized "Fat Dog needs to GO."

Hudson Card is the most important player in the entire program. I've already outlined the need for Texas to be elite at the quarterback position if it wants to be elite as a program again. From my seat, Card is the only obvious option available for the foreseeable future. Put him in your prayers.
It’s like deja vu all over again. I don’t have the luxury of being able to watch Texas HS football, like most everyone else. But this anointing of Hudson Card seems to be a little @UTwizesqe to me. We were schitting on Shane after the first Maryland loss. Now we’re schitting on Sam. The fact that we had Milroe, Jackson, and Ewers committed and lost them sure seems to point to Hudson being the second coming of Trevor Lawrence. I hope he is all that and more. Our track record says different.

@Ketchum will probably tell you that Card has little to nothing to do with losing Milroe and Ewers.

Who was forced to? They are a fraud. A 3 loss UNC team is favored to beat them by 5. That should tell you all you need to know. For all this talk of Jimbo turning the program around, he had a lower winning percentage than Sumlin coming into this year.

The question is what advantages did he have as a first, second, third and fourth year coach? Three future NFL starters in Riley's first three years with two of them senior transfers. Everyone one knew Murray had nfl talent before he got to Norman. He washed out at Aggie because he was a prick, not because he didn't have NFL talent. Hurts also had NFL talent at Alabama. And everyone saw that before he got to Norman.

Riley didn't make those guys NFL talents. Are you so far up in Riley's jock that you think he created nfl talent in three guys who were born with it? I think you are. And you probably think Riley would have beaten ISU without Purdy puking all over the field? I suppose Riley just "willed" Purdy to make those ridiculous throws.

Finally, we'll see who's coaching here in the next few years and, if he's good, Riley might finally need to beat some strong competition rather than pushing around an extremely weak Big 12.

a. How is talking about the importance of Card the same as going head first all-in on proclaiming a player to be great?

b. I'm not schitting on Sam. Pointing out his passing game limitations after his career is merely presenting facts.

c. Card has less to do with those three than a couple of other issues, mainly the state of the program for Ewers and simply being respected as quarterbacks via the OC for the other two.

right on cue. ;)

Yeah, he's not expected to be in play.
Will you please do a thread on who is actually in play? I know you’ve done stuff on your candidate wish list but who is actually truly in play? I feel like this is typically a discrepancy other than with Herman
