Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Saying the quiet part out loud)

It was because of recruiting I've been told, and I'm also told Herman is being replaced after the bowl game...although the coaches out recruiting were telling the recruits that Herman was back. Crazy all the mixed messages.

Hook'em
Mixed, or plausibly deniable?

No Riley would have supported him with an offensive line worth a damn, a running game, good playcalling, and receivers who could get open. Sam wasn't even close to the problem with this team.
Riley benched his top QB in the middle of a game against us. Sam went through multiple ugly stretches where he couldn’t hit the side of a barn. I don’t think Sam was the problem but he also wasn’t a consistent plus player as @Ketchum has pointed out. No amount of playmakers, play calling or run game is going to magically make Sam a better thrower, it’s who he is.

No he's not Colt in the accuracy department, but there are many reasons for his drop in throwing percentage this year. One of them being a reliable receiver to throw to. Lots of drops.

I assume you do not believe what Ketch posted in here tonight? He said the search continues for a new coach.... Once one is found Herman will be gone... Had Urban said yes Herman would be gone already...
I believe a search is continuing. But I do not believe we will find someone worth buying out 25M Herman contract. Hence why he will be back next year.

With all due respect unless Mullen or Kelly told you personally I don't believe it. All this confirmation bias inside info is all BS.... LIKE Urban is done... LMAO

Why would either come here? Kelly would be a horrible choice as he is a midwestern guy, has zero charisma and has not really recruited TX very well. Mullen would be a great choice but he is at his dream school. Why leave a top SEC program in one of the most fertile recruiting areas of the nation (especially when FSU is down) to come to TX? UF can certainly match the money, so it won't be financially driven.

Well 2021 will be a wasted season on the field and in recruiting... Because we will all be doing this again this time next year and the money only drops by about 5 million...

You have no idea if he would have been fired yet or not if Myer had said yes. Source? You state so much stuff as fact all the time.

Ketch, what would you say the best time is to make a move on switching head coaches... recruiting wise.

It has been reported here several times that would have been the case... Also it is common sense... If Urban would have said yes I think it is safe to assume Herman would have been fired... LMAO...

Yes it was, even high school coach calls a time out there.
Did watch that high school coach in state championship game go for two in OT when he had all the momentum. It was Thursday night.
It called game control Herman has none. He coaches not to lose.
Well he only went for two after trying for one.

My biggest argument with this TTFTW is us being a really good QB away.

If we put half the emphasis on OL and DL recruiting and development that we put on skill positions, then I think you'd discover that getting a 165 QB rating out of most these guys wouldn't be so unheard of on the 40 acres.

We have the RB, WRs, TE and QB that we need. Find a coach who can recruit and development the guys to block for them.

Was hoping for a OU and A&M match up since both teams were mentioned as a possible fourth seed

@Ketchum wont it be hard to take a good QB transfer when they see the depth chart? I mean player transfers to get more playing time hard to get that competing with Hudson card when he’s the future. Maybe st pius alumn grant gunnel will be interested I just don’t see many QBs jumping at chance at texas.

Exactly! It’s not that big a surprise that OU has won the conference so much when they have arguably the best OL coach in the country.

* Jackson was in the NCAA portal on Tuesday. He was committed to Utah on Saturday. I'm not going to cry foul on Utah for potentially hitting Jackson up while he was still officially a Texas player; I'm just going to say Texas needs to be as aggressive with potential transfers as Utah was with Jackson. I mentioned it in the Modcast this week, but Texas needs to be vetting every talented former Lone Star State product at every key area on the roster. Use the Texas network and create some good luck by finding every Calvin Anderson in the country. Find out if they want to come home and bring them.
It has to be fairly obvious that no team actually waits for someone to be in the portal, right? If you wait for the guy to get in the portal, you’ve already lost your chance at him IMO.
