Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend: (The problems on offense....)

I don't think he wants to admin failure on a huge investment. He knows it would kill the kid n the Draft and he's loyal to him.
This and what in the hell do you do if Arch doesn’t hit immediately?

B/S
Sam did more with less, while Quinn does less with more.
(Sell) Sam played with the following NFL skill players: Devin Duvernay, Collin Johnson, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Keaontay Ingram, Andrew Beck, Jared Wiley, Jordan Whittington, Roschon Johnson, and Bijan Robinson. Let's not pretend that he was a one-man gang that was always surrounded by bums. No, in general, he did not do more with less. I completely reject that notion.

There is a huge difference in the offensive line quality Quinn has compared to Sam. Ewers needs to get better because he is holding this offense back. He needs to get his confidence back.

Good call on Don’t Close Your Eyes.

Have you ever done an Earl Thomas Conley Top 10 List? I’ve always thought he was one of the most underrated country singers. Passed away back in 2019 of cerebral atrophy.
I haven't. I'll give it some consideration.

Sa always had pretty good left tackle play. Quinn has had better line play, but it doesn't remotely change the bottom line.

I’m at the point with the offense where I’m just done harping on it all. It’s very frustrating to watch an offense with so much potential continually get stuck in 2nd gear. Why it’s happening and how you want to divvy out the blame kinda doesn’t matter. It is what is it. The bottom line is it has to get fixed and it’s on Sark to do it. In my book, Sark has earned more than enough benefit of the doubt for me to believe he’ll get it done. There are a lot worse places to be than being 7-1, ranked in the top 6, and possessing a championship level defense. Just get the offense clicking at the right time and make a run at it man. That’s all you can ask for 🤘🏻

@Ketchum do you think the offensive issues can be fixed to a point where we can make a deep run in the playoffs, or is this team what it is at this point?

Sark never envisioned that Ewers would need to be benched and is playing himself down the draft board at warp speed. He also knows that Quinn coming back to Texas will not happen if his draft stock falls too far, and he wants to stay in college another year. At what point does his loyalty to Ewers potentially cost the team a chance at winning a natty? This isn't the way the story was supposed to play out, but reality can be a real bitch. Sark has some real soul searching coming his way that could define his legacy at Texas. The numbers don't lie, Arch Manning gives this team the best chance to play for a championship right now. Hook' em.

This article was specifically about what needs to be fixed. I've not written about it before in this detail, so I wouldn't consider it harping from my perspective.

I don't know. I think it can. I don't know that, though.

My Lord what an overwhelmingly negative article for a top-six team coming off a conference road win again a quality team that has, in your words @Ketchum, the best QB left on the Texas schedule.

What is going through Arch’s mind right now???
His family is probably happy he isn’t getting thrown to the wolves like Ewers in 2022. Confidence of a young QB can be fragile. He’ll be better for it having been brought along slowly.

I’m convinced part of the issue with Ewers is he has been rushed his entire life. The dude has been basically fast tracked since he was 16 years old and that can be a dangerous thing.

Is there anything you believe was misrepresented.

Yes, talking about the offense right now is overwhelmingly negative. I don't disagree.

My apologies I wasn’t specifically talking about you or the article, I’m talking more about myself than anyone. I pretty much agree with all your points lol I’m just trying to be more positive because I feel the vibe has gotten a little too negative to some extent

Be patient.
I think you missed my point. You listed reasons why Sark won’t bench Quinn in favor of Arch, and I added a big one to the list. If you bench your starter in the home stretch of a season in which you are top-5 and heavily favored to make the playoff, there’s no place for patience.

If Sark were to bench Quinn and Arch doesn’t hit immediately, you just trashed the season. I don’t think you can go back to Quinn after you make that move.

I don't think there are many that are worried that Arch is not going to be a great QB.

I think we have seen enough in the early sampling to see he is going to be a great one.
I agree, big picture. My post was about the context of this season. Are you supremely confident he’d roll into Fayetteville & College Station and ball? I’m not. I have more faith in Quinn in those situations at this time .

With no Horn in the running, I'm all in on Cam Ward winning the Heisman. His mom was a two years ahead of me in school.

Columbia Roughnecks.
