Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (Is this the 2nd best Texas offense of all-time?)

Loved "Acting/Single/Drinking Doubles" by Gary Stewart but no way he's a top 10 C+W artist.

Garth is Top 5 easily. Rest of list is spot on.

Sat night- Chub runs for 200, Wallace gets 200 receiving and we still win by 7. Sam and our receivers are just that good.
Bottom line: If I can listen to one last song between the two, I'm taking Gary.

@Ketch have 4 Tix to Liverpool/City Nov 9th at Anfield. How much will you give me for em?

Okie Lite was a doormat before Gundy came. He does a great job with what he has.Unlikely they will ever win the Big 12 given what an underdog they are to Ou in the state, but they are not doormats any longer. Ask Texas.

No way Sam will turn pro. Mack and I also said that about VY. Big mistake for Vince that Sam will not make.

Man, I sure do miss the good ole days when we could spot Cheater St a 5 TD lead in the first half but still come back and crush them by 3 or 4 TDs.

Haggard above Johnny Cash?

Nope. I like Lefty, but he's no Johnny Cash. At one point in the late 60s/early 70s, one out of every four albums sold in the US was a Johnny Cash album. Merle has never had that kind of appeal. Johnny Cash inspired Merle to be a singer because of a concert he played at San Quentin.

Edited: not 1/4, 1 of every 5 albums...35 min mark below.

What the hell is wrong with you? Dolly Parton? She wouldn't make a top 100 list. Gary Stewart? Over Ray Price? Bob Wills? Conway Twitty? Garth Brooks? Unbelievable.

Way too early to anoint this team or offense to greatness this year. LA Tech and Rice are dogmeat, and the jury is still out on LSU. The eyeball test LSU didn't do much for me. They won't play anyone with a pulse until Florida in game 6. Yes, they will run up big scores in 5 games against really weak defenses, and Ketch will be in love with them based on the statistics that weak schedule will give them.

OK Lite will score >40 points this weekend, and will probably be the best D we have played so far. Lesser talent that LSU, but better coached. We will learn a little about the Horns this weekend.

IMO, a WTF moment that Ossai and other starters were in that late in a 5 TD game. Texas doesn’t need style points - it needed to squash Rice early, which it did, and secondly, come out of it healthy and rest starters- which it didn’t do defensively right away. The way he’s played this year, Ossai is basically Sam for he defense- you pull him when game is out of hand. Potentially a huge mistake depending on severity.

I’ll also add Texas at 2-2 with 2 home losses after 4 games and season is set up as a failure minus running the table.

Ok. So sorry the number four team in the nation averaging 50+ pts per game does not impress you. The OSU defense is not “better coached” than Aranda’s nor does it have close to the talent.

This is a weird/stupid take. OSU falls closer to Rice than LSU and is about to run into a buzzsaw.

This Offense will Never be better than 69 and 70.
Those offenses were the best in college football for that era . I didn't look it up but I'd be surprised if they didn't lead the nation in scoring .
This comparison is just based upon scoring .
That said I don't think this offense will be held to 15 (Ark) or 11(ND) .

We will see this weekend.

Look at LSU’s schedule for their first five games. Most P5 schools would be scoring 50+ per game against that schedule. We won’t know anything about LSU until week 6. And that says a lot about them and SEC scheduling.

OSU is much, much better than Rice. Don’t kid yourself. Rice and LA Tech were warm ups at best. It gets real this weekend.

I agree that OSU is a far more real test than Rice and La Tech, but regardless of LSUs schedule that team is better than OSU, by a lot.

It’s conference. Things will get tighter. We are about to find out who we are. That much is true. I just happen to think we are better than OSU and far more battle tested. They have played no one.

Did you really say OSU will be the best defense that we will play up to this point? Shirley you can’t be serious. Based on what? You just anointed their defense that has been thrashed.

Neither have we. I refuse to anoint LSU just because they are SEC.

So far this year:

Memphis beat Ole Miss
North Carolina beat South Carolina
Georgia State and BYU beat Tennessee
Wyoming beat Missouri
Purdue beat Vandy
Kansas St. beat Miss St.
