Ketch's 10 Thoughts From the Weekend (On Bru McCoy, Mount Vernon ISD and more ...)

You just made that up. That's simply untrue, as evidenced by numerous posts in this thread. Perhaps I'm a hypocrite (we all are), but you know what I'm not?

A liar.

I like that you admit you are a hypocrite too because we are all. It is usually to what degree a hypocrite that we are. Some are more than others.

I just simply hate that you started out with a worthy cause that you were trying to bring attention to and it all dissolved into a political debate because you threw a Trump quote into it at the beginning. This is a conservative board but many conservatives do not like Trump or his behavior just like many Democrats do not like Clinton’s behavior either. Almost every poster on this board agrees that Briles is a POS and shouldn’t be allowed in coaching again.

I apologize that I hadn’t read earlier that you thought Clinton was a goon. I assumed wrong about you before posting. I’m glad you called him out because people on both sides of the political lines should call out bad behavior or actions. If we as a board would focus on the issues instead of bringing politics into the conversation then we would realize we have more in common and are in agreement on issues. It is a morality issue and neither party has ownership of morality. There are good and bad people in every profession and every walk in life.

I do not agree with you posting the picture of the family. That idiot is using his family as a shield and if he is going to do political opinions or controversial decisions then he should only have his own picture there and not hiding behind his family. Those little girls did not make that decision and may someday be appalled by what their father did but you are not helping those little girls by posting their pictures on this site. I would hope you would understand that as a good parent. He is obviously not a good parent linking his family with the Briles issue.

Your opinion carries more weight than mine or other poster’s opinions on this site so I would hope in the future that you try to keep politics (if possible) out of the worthy crusades and causes that you try to bring attention to. If you do you will be surprised at how many people agree with you.

It's amazing what sometimes gets passed around as pathetic and what sometimes gets ignored.

His having young women in his home is an important part of the story IMO. It's our jobs as fathers to take stands for our daughters.

It's not my fault that he hasn't.

How about when you made that pathetic racist joke about Ole Miss, would you like them to post a pic of your wife and kids acting like they were racist tweeting.

I rarely listen to the Orangebloods podcast, but I listened to last week's episode where Suchomel's final thought was about banning an OB member who posted about politics. He was annoyed that the guy was pushing back on the ban, since (according to Such) that rule has been in place for some time. I'm confused why that rule doesn't apply to Ketch and others in this thread. Just because Ketch is the boss?

@Suchomel

Is it really that amazing?

The men that abuse women didn't begin to feel empowered because the world came after them urgently when they did.

I don't understand how absolutely self-absorbed you have to be to change the focus of this thread from "we have a systemic issue with sexual assault" to "WAAAAH HE MADE ME FEEL BAD ABOUT MY GUY!"

It shows how absolutely little many posters care about the actual issue.

Yes it’s all that simple and binary. I’m like Jason in saying you have no idea my views on those political issues and u may be surprised if I was the type to share them in public which I am not. I will say publicly that Briles and those who enable him are either bad people or good people making horrible decisions.
good people making those kinds of horrible decisions by definition can't be good people.

Just because Ketch is the boss. The buck stops with me. I made the decision to make an exception.

If this kid is dealing with high-level stress, anxiety and regret, what matters most is that he takes care of himself. Forget about football if all of this is causing him true mental duress.
This was my exact reaction, too. Forget football, young Bru is clearly unhappy and he's unhappy in a situation where everyone involved at both schools is on his side, and wants him to be happy. He's got a bright future wherever he goes. Here's hoping he sees that and embraces whichever option he chooses, rather than worrying about paths not taken...

You voted for an evil, sexist, racist human being. I'm sorry for the way it makes you feel, but you will not be allowed to hide from that shame. Our nation is run by a human being that has zero regard for the law or the truth or brown people or any kind of class. That's on you and those 60 million.

I know that reads as snarky, but there are consequences for actions. I simply won't allow people to seek shelter in pretend-land in an effort to rid themselves of the truths.
No fan of Trump and didn’t vote for him but your post seems a little over the top to this paying subscriber.

There is a part of me that wonders if a player with his type of NFL upside might go out of their way to not be forced into playing three years of college football before turning pro. Transferring once or twice would aid in that quest.

I just can’t make myself believe (just yet) that all 7 board members were given the full story of what happened at BU and, possibly for my own sanity, I hope that especially the two women on that board (and maybe some of the others) may have voted differently if they weren’t somehow decieved in the process. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Buncha Trump loving snowflakes in this thread. Whaaaaa! Ketch referenced our dear leader in a non-positive manner! Oh the tragedy!
lulz. You're another that just needs to turn around and leave the thread. That's a request. Thank you.

Be better, Ketch.

You have more faith in people than I do.

Oh what a crock of shit. I have stayed out of this, but you can take your holier than though bullshit and shove it straight up your ass. People who voted for Trump need to feel shame for that? I am sure if Clinton had won, you'd be bathing in shame right?

There were two choices, and a lot of us went with what we felt like was the lesser of two evils. I voted for Trump and cringe at a lot of things he says and does, but I do not regret choosing him over Clinton for one second, and am not going to let you or anyone else try to shame me for it.

Get off your ****ing high horse for once in your life.

Well said. Honestly, my takeaway from 2016 was that BOTH parties need to be held accountable by their own voters, and the good citizens of the United States should never, ever be forced into a choice between two such despicable people EVER again.

Also, we are hitting a point where the reflexive hatred, shaming, and dirt-digging on both sides is pretty much forcing anyone with any decency and self-respect out of the game. And we wonder why politics is dominated by pathological narcissists? Nobody else is willing to eat the amount of sh!t necessary to get the job.

You two are agreeing with each other that both Trump and Clinton are sexual predators while Ketch will only bash one and give Clinton a pass. Ketch is the one being a hypocrite.

He also shouldn’t have posted the Superintendent’s family’s photo if he really cares about women and innocent little girls. They had nothing to do his decision and vitriol and hatred should not be directed to the wife and little girls way because of the morally bankrupt decision of the husband and father. Just posting his picture should have been enough.
I'm trying to figure our what Trump did which gave him the title of a sexual predator.

The big problem here is that Briles was never convicted of any crime. He clearly did not do anything to instill a culture that respected women (or the law) but he never committed any of those acts himself or was present when they happened. I have plenty of faith in our criminal justice system that they would have arrested and charged Briles if there was any evidence they could have used to prove he was an accessory to those crimes.

That means he has the right to continue his life, have a job, vote, etc.

So, do we ban Art Briles, Jussie Smollett, and everyone else that appears to have done something wrong but was not charged with a crime from ever working again or ever being able to show their faces in public again? What about Urban Meyer, does he qualify for a permaban from life? Where do we draw the line?

Personally, I have reservations about ever letting violent rapists and murderers from participating in society again. I think they should be sent to an island for the rest of their life because their acts were so heinous. They can learn to farm and exist together on their island until they die. But we let those people out of jail every day and let them continue their life.

At the end of the day, we have to respect the rule of law and if someone is found not guilty, they get to live their life.

Art Briles will reap what he has sown. I do think there is more justice in life than people realize.

With great authority and wealth comes great responsibility. That is where ABFBC failed. He especially failed as a father of daughters himself knowing that the victims were someone else's daughters.

Nobody but nobody possesses a "right to a job". They have a right to pursue a job and stand on their history as an indicator of their likelihood to succeed at a job. One that places him around students of roughly the same age as those he spectacularly failed at great expense to them when he walked away with a multi-million dollar buyout raises inevitable questions that he has either ducked, claimed to be the victim or denied. Past performance is the number one indicator of future performance and anyone thinking of hiring him is more mesmerized by the potential of 9-10 win seasons than the attendant damage he can cause them in the long run. One of my mentors told me that my legacy in life wouldn't be determined by if I made my sales goals but by my impact on the people whose lives i affected. Art has impacted a lot of people by the moments when he could have done something to save those girls and either did nothing or made them the villains. It appears that the Mt Vernon ISD has made its choice known on the impact it chooses to value.

Not many people were/are huge fans of Trump. For some, he was the lesser of two evils. For others,(majority of the voting country) the opposite is true.

You know, two things can be true at the same time:

1. Briles did some awful stuff
2. Briles' actions don't violate a criminal statute.

You could address the what statute was violated instead of "lulz."
