A last-minute snag?
Texas is actively pursuing 2025 five-star wing Shelton Henderson out of Bellaire, Texas. Henderson recently decommitted from Duke last night, and the Longhorns intend to go after the 12th player in the country.

Henderson is a phenomenal recruit and if Texas is able to secure a commitment from him then they’re bound to make noise in year one of the Sean Miller era. Henderson is elite at getting downhill and absorbs contact and is able to finish through contact. The thing Henderson has to work on while in college is his ability to knockdown three point shots and his ability to be consistent on the free throw line. If he is able to improve in those areas then Henderson has all the intangibles to become something special in the forty acres and eventually become a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

A big name off the board:
2025 point guard Nyk Lewis has committed to VCU earlier today. Texas was showing interest to the DC native however, the four-star point guard has made a somewhat shocking decision going with the Rams.

Lewis choosing VCU stings for the Longhorns. With the four-star point guard now off the board, Texas will have to shift its focus to a new floor general for the 2025 class. Lewis would’ve been a perfect fit in the Longhorns’ new system, something Sean Miller surely agrees with, considering he previously had Lewis committed to him at Xavier. Still, it’s an impressive pickup for VCU as they look to make a serious run at the A-10 title this season.

Taking a trip to Corpus:
Texas head coach Sean Miller and assistant coach Ulric Maligi visited Veterans Memorial High School yesterday to take a look at 2026 four-star forward Billy White out of Corpus Christi, Texas.

One of the biggest perks of hiring assistant coach Ulric Maligi is his ability to recruit at a high level. Maligi will play a key role in the recruitment of both 2025 five-star Shelton Henderson and 2026 four-star Billy White. White has made it clear how much Texas values him, and Sean Miller has emphasized just how much of a priority the Blanco native is for the Longhorns’ future. I believe Texas is in a strong position in his recruitment so far, and both Miller and Maligi have done a great job reaffirming his importance to the program. With other schools like Tennessee and TCU showing serious interest as well, Texas will have their work cut out for them in the battle for the 2026 forward’s commitment.
