If you are thinking about buying a EV

We just bought a 2025 Mini Countryman EV and it is just amazing. The problem with EV are the charging stations. We get great assistance from the Mini app, but when you drive up to the charging stations, they might or might not be working. We purchased the Mini for our 14 mile commute from South Austin to Kyle, not long trips. We just got back from Houston and the Mini has a 212 mile range, so we had to make one stop at a Shell charging station in Fulshear. Some of the Tesla charging stations charge both Tesla and non Tesla. We are installing a Cat 2 charger, but right now just using a 110 plug.

We received a $7500 rebate the day we purchased the EV, no waiting to file on our taxes.

If anyone ask me was it worth it? I tell them hell yes.

Hoops Portal Kombat: Has Sean Miller found his missing piece?

Is he the missing piece?
Texas is pursuing 19-year-old French guard Evan Boisdur. Boisdur was one of the best scorers in U21 play for France and put an impressive 21.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 4.1 APG, and 3.2 SPG on 44% from the field.

Texas has been in search of a point guard this offseason, and with their pursuit of Boisdur, it appears they’ve found a player who could fit seamlessly into Sean Miller’s system from day one. Boisdur is an offensive maestro, averaging 21.6 points and 4.1 assists per game at just 19 years old, which is impressive regardless of the level of competition. He brings sneaky athleticism to the table and is a defensive menace, recording an eye-popping 3.2 steals per game overseas. At 6’1”, Boisdur checks a lot of boxes for what Texas needs at the point guard spot. He thrives in transition, breaks down defenses in pick-and-roll situations, and has the ability to spot up off the ball. Florida is another program I’ve heard that has reached out to Boisdur, along with a few others.

Shelton Henderson has decided:
2025 five-star winger Shelton Henderson has committed to Miami. Henderson recently was released from his Letter of Intent from Duke and was recruited by former Blue Devils assistant coach Jai Lucas who is now the head coach for the Hurricanes.

While it was previously reported that Texas and several other top programs were in the mix for the 6’5” forward out of Bellaire, Texas, Henderson’s relationship with Miami head coach Jai Lucas proved to be a hurdle that most schools simply couldn’t overcome. With the transfer portal closing tomorrow, I expect recruitments to heat up between portal players and college programs. Coaches will now have a clearer picture of their roster needs and a better handle on how to allocate their NIL resources moving forward.

Is 2026 THE year?
Texas has offered 2026 five-star point guard Dylan Mingo out of Glen Head, New York. Mingo also holds offers from St. Johns, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, Florida State and more.

Standing at 6’5”, Mingo uses his height and length to his advantage, both as a facilitator and when creating his own shot. While his release isn’t the quickest, his touch around the rim is what really stands out on film. Coupled with elite court vision, it’s what makes him such a compelling prospect. It’s still early in the recruitment of the New York native, but with Texas still in search of a point guard for the 2025 class, a forward-looking pitch to a 2026 prospect like Mingo, especially one centered around immediate playing time, could be a strong selling point.

A PJ Haggerty update:
According to Jeff Goodman, Haggerty may find a taker, but multiple Top 25 programs have opted not to get involved due to the $4 million-plus price tag and demand of playing the point. It was reported earlier this month that Haggerty and his camp’s asking price for NIL was roughly $4 million.

Kind of a masterclass being given by Sark and his staff right now

With potentional big changes looming with portal rules and NIL, Sark going out and finishing this wild west portal period with players that have multiple years of eligibility and impact to the program.

Suddenly a few rooms that lowered the floor and ceiling for this version of the Texas football team are looking like potential strengths

The needs right now live more in the "in an ideal world" bracket than addressing experience and talent issues on the team.

Not a bad place for Texas to be in

It's Happening? Texas set to host Portal Top DT

Just had a source confirm with me that Syracuse DT Maraad Watson is scheduled to take a visit to Texas on Tuesday.

At this point, no other visits are believed to be scheduled.

Watson has emerged as one of the top interior DT targets in either Portal cycle after emerging as a starter for Syracuse as a true freshman in 2024. One of the things that stands out about the 6-3, 313-pound Watson is that he played hundreds of snaps at 1-tech, 3-tech and even some 5-tech in his first season.

Full Tank

I was out recently doing a grocery run and noticed that our gas tank was almost empty. My wife hates it when the gas tank gets below half full. I tend to let it get to about a quarter tank before heading to the gas station and sometimes if I don’t pay attention, I’ll be running on fumes.

The same thing can happen to me spiritually. There are some days when my faith tank is full. Usually, this type of day I’ve woken up to say a prayer, spent time reading my Bible or a devotional, and I’m ready to face the day head on. Other days, I wake up in a rush, forget to pray, and have no thought of reading a passage and at the end of the day, I feel…you guessed it…EMPTY or worse, anxious/exhausted.

We’ve talked about having an empty faith tank before, but I think this topic is worth repeating. We live in such a chaotic world and it’s so easy to let ourselves run on fumes and then wonder, why do I feel anxious, tired, frustrated, unhappy, or even depressed.

Just as we can’t get anywhere on an empty tank of gas, we will find it harder to get through life’s journey on an empty faith tank. It takes about 5-10 minutes to fill up your gas tank, can’t we spend at least 10 minutes reading our Creator’s Word? He has the fuel we need to live each day to the fullest.

Keep that faith tank filled my friends!

Stanford football's GAP year

So, Andrew Luck has hired Frank Reich as the Cardinal coach for one year only. They will look for a new leader for 2026 campaign. I know college football is truly changing at warp speed, but this has to be unprecedented (that I am aware). Imagine being on that team or merely a fan/season ticket holder. You just signaled that we will suck in 2025. Are there enough wealthy alumni that care enough to help fund NIL and restore Stanford football?

Nico underestimated Luka’s connection to the fans in Dallas?
