Something Very Cool About Veterans Day That You May Not Know

GcHKCNTXYAAP-XL

We all know someone that has served in our military. One way of thanking them would be to share the photo below of this little known tribute that happens once a year at 11:11 AM on November 11th, which of course is Veterans Day.

In addition, I would like to thank all those that have served including family members, friends, and clients for preserving the liberty and freedom to live the wonderful life with which I've been blessed.

I hope you learned something new about Veterans Day and thank you for letting me serve the mortgage needs of you and those you care about - it's an honor.

Thank You To All That Have Served.

Can you say “Explosives”? Sure, you can

On a crystal clear Saturday afternoon at DKR, Sark put on an offensive play-calling clinic to take a wounded and completely outmatched Gator team and turned them into Gator Bait. Not to be outdone, Coach Pete K and his defenders more than matched TEXAS' offensive efforts. Perhaps the best 1st half of “complementary football” in Sark’s almost 4-year career on the 40. Came at a great time too as many feared a Vanderbilt hangover following that very sloppy game.

Let’s get the first-half blemish out of the way. TEXAS’ 1st drive into the red zone only to see a 9-yard tackle for loss, the only sack on the Horns in the game on back-to-back plays. This forced a 53-yard FG that sliced right. Sorry, but both plays were caused by poor execution on the right side of the offensive line. The good news, the OL largely settled down and played well afterward.

Sark and Ewers said, “no worries, we got your back”. TEXAS would score touchdowns on their next 2 drives, then we saw back-to-back punts before the Horns put the game out of reach with touchdowns on their last 3 drives of the 1st half.

The mark of a great coach is putting his players in a position to succeed. This offense is built to stress a defense horizontally and create that one mistake, that one missed tackle which springs uber-talented Wide Receivers and RBs into big plays. Sark kept the Gators off balance with his play-calling. He used motion and some impressive route combinations to work pass catchers open.

We should also say, this is why we’ve been saying “Trust Sark”. (our told-you-so moment) He knows what he has in Ewers and he’s a really good QB.

1st half explosives

-Gunnar Helm with a 20-yard completion on the 1st drive. This drive ends in a missed FG attempt

-2nd down finds TEXAS 4th and 2 at their own 24. NO WAY Sark goes for it right? Nope, Baby Rhino, Jerrick Gibson gets his 1st carry for 2.5 yards and a 1st down. OK, not an explosive but Sark was setting the tone. MASSIVE GAMBLE that deep in your own end but Sark has faith.

-Next play, Quinn fakes a reverse, fakes a handoff, gives to Bond, Isaiah Bond on a double reverse (never seen it before), and with Nisbett (the original fake reverser) throwing a great block, goes for 44 yards.

-Same drive, Quinn hits Matthew Golden in the end zone for a 29-yard TD.

7-0 Lead

-Following an Ant Hill forced fumble recovered by Trey Moore, TEXAS starts drive 3 of the game at the Florida 22.

-Quinn hits Gunnar Helm wide-open up the middle for a 22-yard TD

14-0 TEXAS lead

-Following 2 drives ending in punts, TEXAS is set up at the 50 for it’s 5th drive of the game. A flat pass to Quintravion Wisner, who weaves through the Gators D for a 50-yard TD reception. Of note were big blocks downfield by Jake Majors and Gunnar Helm.

21-0 TEXAS lead

-Following a Florida punt, TEXAS starts at its own 20.

-Jayden Blue takes a short pass 45 yards to flip the field

-From the Florida 32, Quinn hits Matthew Golden in the endzone

28-0 TEXAS lead

-A Ty’Anthony Smith interception of a ball that Alfred Collins tipped gives the Horns the ball at the Florida 45. 58 seconds remain in the half.

-On 1st down, Quinn hits Silas Bolden over the middle for 20.

-Quinn hits Jayden Blue with a short pass good for another 20 yards to the Florida 5 before Blue punches it in from the 5.

35-0 TEXAS lead at the half

We hope you like explosives because the game featured a ton of them. Some with deep passes, many with short passes where defenders missed tackles or were blocked, leading to big plays. Put your people in a position to succeed and let them do what they are good at. Short passes are great for mitigating heavy pass rushes.

All the while, the defense was playing lights out and created 3 turnovers, which the O would turn into 21 points. Our offense is good, our defense has been great.

2nd half would see both teams largely trying to run out the clock. TEXAS would add 2 more touchdowns and would drive into the Red Zone before going into the Victory formation. We finally got to see more of Baby Rhino, Jerrick Gibson. We also saw why he hasn’t been getting much of a run. One lost fumble and another fumble he recovered. Also, the freshman is reportedly neither a strong pass blocker or a pass catcher. If you want to play RB for Sark and Coach Choice, you better be able to catch, pass block, and NOT turnover the ball. He’s young, he’ll learn. But along the way, he recorded his 1st 100-yard game on 16 carries with a late touchdown.

History

TEXAS and Florida have played only 4 times with TEXAS winning all of them. We started playing 100 years ago in 1924. We last played 84 years ago in 1940, before the US entered World War II.
TEXAS is the only team among the Power 4 schools that has kept the same Head Coach, Offensive and Defensive Coordinators over the past 4 seasons. Continuity can be a very good thing.
Before Sark, TEXAS had 2 head coaches and 6 different offensive coordinators in the prior 7 seasons. Think we’ve had 5 DCs but not sure about that count.

Offensive Player of the Game

Quinn Ewers shook off the criticism to record his best SEC game to date. He was 15 of 22 for 297 yards and 4 TDs. . . . IN THE FIRST HALF. Would finish with a career-high 5 TDs on the day. This one was an easy call.
Honorable Mention: The offensive line. They have squandered any real shot at the Joe Moore award this season but vs Florida, only allowed one sack, giving Quinn time to throw.

Defensive Player of the Game

Trey Moore, his 2 tackles for loss set the tone early in the 1st quarter. On the 2nd, he broke off his rush to track down a TE screen. He would add a 13-yard fumble recovery, forced by Ant Hill leading to a touchdown.
Honorable Mention: Welcome back Andrew Mukuba, our most important transfer player with an INT and finished 2nd on the team in tackles. Worried we had lost him for the year, he’s a key part of the secondary.

Special Teams Player of the Game

Silas Bolden’s lone punt return gave TEXAS excellent field position leading to a touchdown.

Stats that Matter

  • 3-21 TEXAS turned 3 turnovers into 21 points
  • 2-3 Touchdowns in the Red Zone, too many big plays. The Horns got into the Red Zone 4 times but went into victory formation on the 4th. Not going to penalize them for doing the right thing.
  • 11-16 TEXAS Touchdowns vs Red Zone trips in SEC play. Improved from last year
  • 13-12 Sark’s record in his 1st two years at TEXAS
  • 20-3 Sark’s record his last 2 years.

On Deck

Strap your helmets on tight boys & girls, the Pigs on the road await. They don’t call it Fayette-Nam for nothing. For you not familiar with this rivalry, it was every bit as nasty as our rivalry with the Dirt Burglers and little brother. This will be the 2nd most hostile environment the Horns will face this year. Which makes this game great prep for the last game of the season. Make no mistake, the Pigs hate us with a passion. And they will be coming off the bye week so 2 weeks to focus on nothing but TEXAS. Sam Pittman may also be coaching for his job. Arkansas is #33 in scoring offense averaging 33 points a game (and not a typo) to our #16 ranking at 37 ppg.

  • The defenses compare with the Pigs ranked #81 allowing 26 ppg while TEXAS checks in at #2 in the nation only allowing 11 and a half points a game. For all Sark's offensive pub, this team wins with defense.
  • You can throw on the Pigs, they are #120 in the Nation allowing 286 yards per game.
  • The Razorback’s offensive strength is running the ball, they are #31 in the nation just under 200 yards per game while TEXAS allows just half of that total.
  • Expect them to try to grind the clock to keep the Horns O off the field. On defense, they will do their best to get after Quinn while they feed off the home-field emotion.
  • Expect more of what we saw today from the offense, the short/quick passes, lots of motion with plenty of misdirection. On paper, this one should not be that close. In reality, we’re calling for a 17-point TEXAS win late as it takes time for the Horns to handle Razorback emotions.
  • Standard caveat, as long as we do not lose the turnover battle.

Looking forward, we still see Kentucky as a “trap game” with the Horn's final game essentially being an SEC title “play in” game. Don’t get caught looking ahead Sark.

Fighting Mack Brown’s

On the bye this week. Need to win one of their last 3 to go bowling. We are massive fans of Mack Brown but we hope he hangs it up after this brutal season.

If we had a playoff vote

Oregon, BYU and Indiana are now the only unbeaten teams among the Power 4 schools. With Army the only unbeaten of the Group of 5. This has created chaos with almost every conference.

#1 tOSU-their biggest game left will be Indiana in which amounts to a B1G play in game. Winner gets Oregon.

#2 TEXAS-hope this isn’t a jinx but we’re calling for TEXAS to win out.

# 3 Clemon-ACC champ

#4 Colo-sucks to put Neon Deon in the playoffs but we think they will handle BYU in the BigXII title game

The above 4 teams get a “bye” in round 1. All teams will get 2 weeks from the conference title games till the start of the playoffs. #5 thru #8 will host a home playoff game

#5 Oregon-we’re calling it a close loss to tOSU in the B1G title game

#6 Tennessee We think they beat Dawgs this week knocking Georgia out of the playoffs

#7 Indiana The surprise team of 2024 and they play really good football

#8 Norte Dame-

#9 BYU Needed some very late-game heroics to remain unbeaten but we see them losing in the BigXII title game

#10 Ole Miss-they are peaking at the right time

#11 SMU

#12 Army-cuz it’s our poll and they will be unbeaten representing not just G 5 but the nation.

We have to confess, we were wrong. We thought expanding the playoffs to 12 teams would be bad for College Football. We are two weeks into November and there is drama in every conference now. Who gets invited to the title game, and how many get in, the interest in College Football has never been higher. And look at all the upcoming “play-in games” to get to the conference title games. tOSU v Indiana, TEXAS and the Aggies, Tenn v Dawgs looks like a playoff/play in game. 3 more weekends of college football before the playoffs begin.

What Horn Old Schooler should Sark bring in..:

To tell these youngsters exactly what Texas vs Piggy used to mean! Have to admit when I started following NCAA and just before Arky left for SEC they were pimp slapping Texas left and right - but surely there is some old grizzled vet out there to give some perspective on the rivalry and what it means to Pig Fan

Team needs to understand impact of rivalry and importance of how serious this heated battle used to be

Random thoughts after Texas dismantles Florida

AP24314649771688.jpg

Now THIS was the type of performance I wanted to see from the Longhorns after a few games of what I would call fairly mediocre performances. Florida was an overmatched opponent from the jump but Texas didn’t play down to the level of competition and absolutely dominated in a way that championship teams should.

Speaking of dominant performances, that first half by Quinn Ewers was just what the doctor ordered. Right or wrong, people have been down on him a bit the last few weeks and Ewers responded in a big way and looked as comfortable as he has all season. Ewers’ final stat line … 19 of 27 for 333 yards and 5 touchdowns.

If you haven’t been to the Texas Card House, you’re missing out. I watched the game there with Chad Hastings for our OB watch party and this place is bad ass. If you’re a fan of Vegas at all, this is a must stop for sports watching.

Great rhythm by Quinn Ewers on the first drive. As soon as I told Chad that it was exactly the kind of start Ewers needed, Texas suffered yet another set of negative plays that killed the drive. This time it wasn’t a penalty, but a negative run by Trey Wisener and then a sack of Ewers. Sark said that was a huge focal point of the off week but it popped up again on the first drive. Then Bert Auburn missed the 51-yard field goal. Frustrating start on that first drive after it looked very promising.

That first series of the game might have been Trey Moore’s best series of the year. Two tackles, two tackles behind the line of scrimmage, including a beautiful read to sniff out a screen pass.

As good as Ewers’ first series was, the start of that second series was a disaster. He missed a WIDE OPEN Isaiah Bond when the DB fell down for what could have been an easy touchdown and then he nearly threw an interception on second down.

Sark going for it on fourth down deep in UT’s territory tells me he had zero concern of losing this game. You don’t take that risk against Arkansas or A&M. Florida at home with its third-string quarterback ... why not?

Welcome back Isaiah Bond. That reverse was set up beautifully and blocked to perfection. Great play call, great execution and a 44-yard gain for Bond.n Two plays later, Matthew Golden breaks free for the first score of the game.

Florida time of death … 11:30 a.m. As soon as Texas scored, this game was over with Florida having to play Aidan Warner.

I highlighted Trey Moore for his play on the first series, but he came up big on the second drive as well with the big fumble recovery and return.

Hey Florida, you might want to cover Gunnar Helm. That touchdown late in the first quarter is about as easy of a touchdown catch is Helm will ever have.

Quinn Ewers’ start to the game … 7-10 for 104 yards and two touchdowns with a 223.4 passer rating.

Manny Muhammad with some nice physical play early on.

Good to see Sydir Mitchell get some early action and actually make a play when he was on the field. Also good to see his teammates so excited for him.

DeAndre Moore is going to have nightmares about those drops downfield in the second quarter, especially that one in the end zone. Ouch. Can’t make that mistake against better competition.

That throwback screen to Tre Wisner was another beautiful example of some perfect downfield blocking.

Trey Moore’s first sack of the season came in the second quarter of the ninth game of the season. Raise your hand if you expected that. Great first half by Moore overall.

Holy crap, Jaydon Blue. That open-field move on that swing pass needs to go on top of his highlight reel that he’ll show NFL scouts. That poor Florida linebacker didn’t have a chance. Blue would do it again late in the third quarter. That’s big for Texas if Blue gets it going the way everyone thought he would early in the season.

That touchdown pass by Ewers to Golden was a great play by both players. Ewers was unable to set his feet but still delivered a pretty good ball downfield and Golden made a nice adjustment when the ball was in the air to secure the catch.

Lots of young bucks getting some early run in this game, including TyAnthony Smith, who recorded an interception after Alfred Collins tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage.

First half stats of note … Quinn Ewers 17-25 for 295 yards with 5 TDs, 220.6 passer rating; Texas 353 yards of offense compared to 138 for Florida; Texas running backs 7 carries for 12 yards; Isaiah Bond 1 carry for 44 yards; Anthony Hill 5 tackles; Texas 14 points off turnovers.

Two plays into the second half, I officially felt sorry for Florida. Alfred Collins with another QB pressure to force the interception to Mukuba.

It’s such a small sample size, but man you could see Trevor Goosby’s athleticism on that touchdown pass to Isaiah Bond in the third quarter. One play after a false start penalty, Goosby was shot into the second level on a block downfield to help spring Bond.

Congrats to Florida for extending their streak of not getting shut out and continuing to put up a fight when the game was long over. Tip of the cap to the Gators for their effort.

This game was not competitive, but it was a bit disappointing watching Texas give up so many points in the second half. That’ll be a talking point for Sark and the coaches this week.

Sark talked this week about this team getting its mojo back, getting its confidence back, well this game should do it. Arkansas probably won’t be a walk in the park but if the Longhorns play anywhere close to the level that they showed against Florida, they’ll win that game by multiple scores.

Texas doing the little things

Two small things on Saturday but they speak to Texas having smart players or being well-coached.

Ty’Anthony Smith gets the huge pick right before half. And instead of trying to make a hero play on the return because it wasn’t there, he just smartly and quietly steps out of bounds and doesn’t risk a fumble.

Will Stone: 8 kickoffs - 5 touchbacks. On Florida’s 3 kickoff returns, the Gators got 49 total yards with a long of 20.

There was a lot to dislike about the Charlie Strong's teams. But I contend one of the WORST things was Strong’s teams was after the offense would score a TD after a good drive and then immediately give up a long KO return to the 50. I even had a term for it: CSS - Charlie Strong special.

what's going on with the senate races in Michigan, Wisconsin and Nevada?

So the Republican candidates in each of these 3 states were leading by about the same margin Trump was heading into around midnight Tuesday night. Then, they called the election for Trump. Since that point, the democrat senate candidate suddenly started catching up and even surpassed the Republican by a small amount.
I suspect fraud. They have extra dem ballots ready to cheat but saw no point doing it for president after the race was called for Trump so quickly. Not worth the risk. But went ahead with the extra ballots for dem senators in the wee early morning hours in order to keep the senate from becoming 55 or 56 for the Republicans. This helps set the dems up to retake the senate in 2026. Cheating. It doesn't make sense for these dem candidates to suddenly surge past their Republican opponents like that during the early morning hours and throughout Wednesday.

Peptide Overview?

Your body makes peptides. They’re strings of amino acids. As we age, our body’s natural production of essential amino acids decreases. These amino acids create peptides, necessary components to many functions of the body.  They also produce Human Growth Hormone, which plays a vital role in your strength and energy levels.

Peptides are the building blocks of proteins; these naturally occurring chains of amino acids provide powerful relief to common disorders of aging, including relieving erectile dysfunction, enhancing gym performance, aiding in the body’s repair after injury, promoting weight loss with lean muscle gain, increasing growth hormone production, and even helping reverse signs of physical aging.

Today, I will discuss one of the most widely used peptides in my clinical practice, BPC-157, also known as “the Wolverine drug.”

Screenshot-2024-11-11-at-9.33.17 AM.jpg

BPC-157

It is naturally found in the human gut, and plays a role in maintaining gut health. When taken orally in pill form, it reduces gastric reflux, heals peptic ulcers, and has been shown beneficial in Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

BPC-157 may be given subcutaneously, providing impressive healing properties to injured muscles, tendons, and even spinal cord injuries (in rats). It has been shown to increase angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth) to damaged tissue, promoting regional healing. I frequently apply this peptide to musculoskeletal injuries such as rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, chronic joint osteoarthritis, muscle strains, and more.

Some potential benefits of BPC-157 include:
  • Accelerated healing
  • Alleviation of pain and inflammation
  • Amplified muscle strength and endurance
  • Optimized joint health
  • Mitigation of injury risks
  • Fortified immune system
Screenshot-2024-11-11-at-9.33.05 AM.jpg

BPC-157 is currently not FDA-approved, as there have been no large controlled human trials. However, there were no signs of toxicity or side effects in human and animal studies, and all studies suggest tremendous healing benefits. Your physician may use BPC-157 as an off-label treatment.

Is BPC-157 Right For You?

If you are ready to invest in your health. If you want to turn back the clock and feel and look your very best, you should consider peptide therapy. Checking in "Behind Enemy Lines"

Arkansas Razorbacks (5 days until)

1. INJURIES - Taylen Green and Ja'Quinden Jackson:

Quote from Sam Pittman Mid-Week Presser last week

"I still think we’re a few days away from both those guys, determining what their ability to play against Texas would be," Pittman said. "I can tell you this, I don’t know if either one of them would be able to play if we were playing Saturday. Without avoiding the questions, just giving you a true answer, I think we still have to wait until probably a Monday of next week to see exactly where we’re at with those two guys.

"Taylen’s got a sprained knee, and certainly JJ’s got that ankle. They were out in the walkthrough yesterday, but I don’t know that they’ll be available really for practice today."

2024:
Oct. 19 vs 8. LSU: L
Nov. 16 vs 3. Texas:

3. SELMAN BRIDGES - Freshman Cornerback:

Bridges is a four-star cornerback recruit out of Temple, Texas, and he's logged just 10 defensive snaps this season, all of which came in the opener against UAPB. Bridges has appeared in six games on special teams, which means he isn't eligible to redshirt anymore.

Sam Pittman was asked if there was any chance of Selman Bridges would see the field, given the struggles in the secondary.

"Well, there’s certainly a chance of that, yes," Pittman said regarding Bridges getting some action. "I think we have to look at all things. How we’re coaching it. The coverages that we’re playing. The people that we’re asking to play those coverages, and we certainly have given that a good look and have made some changes there to see if we can get better. Selman’s certainly one of the guys in that thought process, as well. He’s done really a good job out there, and we’ll see what happens there, but he certainly has improved greatly this camp."

Defensive Super Explosives 2024

Another week goes by and it's another week with Texas sitting atop the country at NOT allowing the opposition to create explosive plays. I'm not sure if this can honestly be understood, but the numbers are proof that this entire defense is playing at an ELITE level, we are 9 games in and this is astonishing.

- Texas has allowed just 5 plays of 30+ yards, ranking #1 in the country. Leading Army, Tennessee, and Sam Houston State by 1.
- Texas has also allowed just 15 plays of 20+ yards, ranking #1 in the country. Leading Ohio State by 10.
- Texas has also allowed just 69 plays of 10+ yards, ranking #1 in the country. Leading Ohio State by 8.
